now yeah I know this board doesn't neccesarly like death matches, but I for one love BJW mainly because they can pull off death matches right and not have them turn into nothing but spot fests.

It's like CZW: I don't care for the ultraviolence.

I love Big Japan Pro-Wrestling (BJW sounds dirty ;D)
I mark for BADBOY HIDO, Ryuji Ito, Daisuke Sekimoto, and of course Kintaro Kanemura.

Is that the one that you get on the Japanese Hardcore Wrestling DVDs? If so, I've seen one and didn't particularly care for it.

When I started picking up Japanese wrestling, I started with comps of Big Japan deathmatches. I still dig them out every once in a while to watch. I like the slower build-up to the "extreme", it's a different pace than the American deathmatch wrestling I've seen.
I might be wrong, but to me it seems that Japanese wrestlers "sell" better than their North American counterparts... some wrestlers here come across like "hardcore supermen" a little too often.

Well BJW has come along way since the early days with the likes of Matsunaga, Pogo, Nakamaki, Yamakawa etc. They dont have random crazy death matches anymore, although I wish they wouldnt use light tubes all the time. You shouldnt really compare them to american death match wrestlers especially the old guard, like pondo, rotten, butcher, corp robinson etc these guys are actually very talented wrestlers to begin with and they carry that into the death match style. All of the wrestlers can actually wrestle and the matches arnt just spot fests anymore. The fueds are nice and simple to understand and the actual wrestlers are easy to remember and the fans care about them. The BJW fans are really lively at every show ive seen. The people in Japan are starting to take notice, they are easily one of the biggest indies in Japan now. Since 2004 they have come leaps and bounds, they have an exiting tv show and regularly sell out the arenas they go to. Some of the guys they have are Ryuji Ito one of the best death match wrestlers in the world, held the BJW Death Match title for about 2 years after defeating Kintaro Kanemura in a cage match. Has had awesome matches with numazawa, sasaki, kobayashi, hido etc. Takashi Sasaki this guy really amazed me in 2005, his 300 light tube match with Ito was fantastic and he has another match signed for later on in the year for the title. Abdullah Kobayahi The only origianl trainee left in BJW, not the best wrestler but is sooo over with the fans. Its just impossible to hate the guy. Theres a ton of other great wrestlers like Jaki Numazawa, Yuko Miyamoto, Jun Kasai and Daisuke Sekimoto (who could be a bif thing in Japan in years to come) If you want to find out more about BJW, visit our site at: www.bjwfans.com

I thought this was about BJ Whitmer...
If it was about Whitmer, I'd say I enjoy him, although his personality lacks...

BJW is the best Deathmatch/Hardcore promotion around today. Ryuji Ito is greatness, and Daisuke Sekimoto is doing some kind of interpromotional feud with Manabu Nakanishi from NJPW, in which he wants to fight Nakanishi, but Nakanishi refuses because Sekimoto is still a "nobody" in the business and has to climb the ladder to fight him.
