I remember in the Death of WCW book, there was another scene mentioned involving Buff "breaking kayfabe" where him and Scotty Riggs were going over the script backstage. Buff was like "Well according to the script, you're supposed to pin me!" Does anyone have a clip of that? That sounds just awful enough to be funny.

I remember that too well, it happened on Thunder I think a week or so after this incident. I wish I had it, or I'd post it in a heartbeat. It was as they were going to commercial, the camera caught them going over the finish of their match. It was bad on so many levels, Russorific if I may so myself.

Good grief. That was awful.
Worked shoots = garbage.
Wrestling is a show. Keep it that way.

I was pretty young at the time and remember thinking "Good job Buff, stand up to stupid Russo, send him back to the WWF!" or something like that. I was a marky mcmarkmark.

Norman: "La Parka won! Yes! He beat Buff!"
Why did they cut backstage?

I just remembered something else that was IMO the most stupid thing I've ever seen in wrestling.
Schiavone "Goldberg's walking away. That's not in the script!"

Man, Jeff Jarrett got passed around between the two companies like the community doobie, didn't he? Jarrett was to the WWF and WCW as Missy Hyatt was to the UWF/NWA/WCW locker room in the '80s and early-'90s. He jumped, what? Two hundred times? Anyway, of the many reasons to dislike Vince Russo's "booking" style, that video and the obvious attempt to ruin wrestling are right up there. What's that you say? You mean it wasn't obvious that he was going for the throat? Puh-leez. He'd have to be the world's biggest mark for himself to think any of that was going to work to the casual fan. Oh, wait.......

When I saw this happen back in the day my first thought was "Wouldn't people rather see La Parka win than Buff?"
In my mind that's one of the major reasons why this angle went kaboom. People actually gave a crap about La Parka.

Jarrett blasting Bagwell over the head was the best thing about that video.

I like how everyone from the commentators to the other wrestlers were shocked that Parka won, when any idiot can see that Parka is a superior wrestler to Bagwell.
I remember when Russo first came on board, he had "shocking returns/debuts" every week, then he ran out of guys to re-debut so he started with the stupid gimmicks, e.g. Chavo Guerrero Amway salesman.

I'm searching for the "Tequila on a Pole" match with Juventud Guerrera and Jushin Liger, if I find that I'll post that spectacle up as well.

Now that's just slow reaction time on Parka's part. "Hey, why is my partner flying at me in a threatening mannerOHGOD" Have you watched any lucha libre these days? That's EXACTLY how it is.
