THE "KING OF THE MOUNTAIN MATCH" TO RETURN AT THE SLAMMIVERSARY PAY-PER-VIEW EVENT By Bill Banks, tnawrestling.com
TNAwrestling.com has learned that the "King Of The Mountain Match" - one of the signature bouts of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling - will make its return this June at the "Slammiversary" Pay-Per-View event.
Whoever is the World Champion after the May 13 "Sacrifice" PPV will defend the title against four other top stars at TNA's June anniversary event in Nashville, Tennessee.
The King Of The Mountain Match has been a part of TNA Wrestling since 2004, when Jeff Jarrett won the inaugural bout. The match is, in effect, a reverse ladder match - the first star to hang the gold above the ring is declared the World Champion.
The rules of the bout are as follows:
Each entrant starts the bout as ineligible to hang the World Title. In order to gain eligibility, each wrestler must get a pinfall or submission on one of the other opponents. The beaten opponent goes to a penalty box for two minutes while the eligible wrestlers are free to attempt to climb the ladder and hang the gold to win the bout.
Slammiversary takes place this year on June 13 at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium. Tickets for Slammiversary will go on sale Saturday, May 19, at the Municipal Auditorium Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, online at Ticketmaster.com or by calling (615) 255-9600.

Well this is pretty obvious, but cool I like KOTM so I'm happy. I wonder who's gonna be in it but either way should be a great match.

For real they REALLY, REALLY, need to take away the penalty box thing and the hanging the belt thing, and just make it a regular 6 man TLC with a cool name...

agree, get rid of the wacky gimmicks where you actually have to think for a minute about what the rules are.

KOTM is boring. I hate it.

Everyone knew it was going to happen but, I don't like them announcing the main event of the next PPV while the current PPV a) hasn't happened yet and b) doesn't have a main event.
For the big time cards (Wrestlemania for WWE and Bound For Glory for TNA) it makes great sense to build it up but, not in this instance to me.

Just get rid of the part where you have to hang the belt. Just make it where you can't get the belt till you pin somebody

I liked last year's, but they should get rid of the Penalty Box part.
It was a given that they would announce the KOTM for Slammiversary, I think I may order it depending on the lineup and if it's not too gimmicky like the last few PPV's.

Makes two of us, I guess.
The penalty box is...interesting. I don't know that it adds much to the match really. Plus it just kind of looks tacky. It would help if they just made it look better, if nothing else.

I don't know I like this match and it's really not that complicated to me. You have to hang the belt instead of taking it down no big deal really. Plus I like the use of the penalty box as to not make it over spotty and makes the action more focused. Now compare that to this years MITB which was a giant clusterf*** which hurt the match.

It'd be better if it were for the X Division title.

My only question is, of the five, will we get at least one guy who isn't a former WWF/E/WCW/ECW guy? Can we get maybe two in that are TNA homegrown or is that asking too much?

Well, I mean the belt thing is just dumb, I mean it looks so stupid to hang the belt and then take it right back down, and besides, its looks like, alot better for TV for someone to be taking the belt down. I only saw one KOTM match (Hebner one), does them having to hang the belt really add anything to the match? Then the penalty box is just gay and unrealistic, yeah someones just gonna stop in the middle of this huge fight and go in there. Was it Russo who first made this match? Cause it sounds like him, just pointless rules added JUST to be added try and make it different, that only make it stupid. 5-6 man TLC with a cool name would be better...

Not to nitpick, but it would nice if they got the date right...somehow I don't think TNA is holding Slammiversary on a Wednesday...

Abyss is TNA through and through and he has been in 2 of them. Chris Harris was in one. I was about to say Ron Killings, but I keep forgetting his WWE stint.
