If I remember correctly, in 2000, most people on the net LOVED Trips and hated the Rock. My, how the times have changed. I was actually talkin wrestling back then(there were forums, don't kid yourself) and I am proud to say I was a Rock defender back then. Jericho and SCSA were the darlings back then.

Well, if I were to venture an outlandish guess, I'd guess that, since there were a lot of wrestling fans during that time period and, considering a large amount of the American population has internet access, many people likely used the internet to access wrestling sites and forums, since that's what people with the internet do with it. Doubly so when taken into consideration how hard it can be to find fellow wrestling fans in the "real world" in some places. Since these forums would be bringing together hundreds or even thousands of wrestling fans together, and given that weird human nature where we're all individuals and have different opinions and viewpoints, I'm sure there'd be plenty of dissent in universal opinion. You'd likely have a lot of people who like the Rock, but dislike HHH, or vice versa. You might even have people who didn't like what everyone else did, as alien a concept that might be.
Ah, who am I kidding. It's far more logical that an all-powerful internet conspiracy of people who think the exact same way in all matters are lurking out there, plotting nefarious ways to make life difficult for anyone who likes John Cena/Hulk Hogan/WWE/whatever.

I'm guessing that in 2000 people complained mostly about the Rock. Most people only appreciated him after he left. This pretty much sums up what my feelings on The Rock were. When he was all over I got sick of him, but after he left I looked back on the classic stuff he did with Mankind and against HHH. One thing I do remember is that everyone loved Jeff Hardy and talked about how he was going to be like Shawn Michaels in the future, as long as he slowed it down a bit. People loved all the high flying matches, as opposed to now where everyone disregards them as spot fests. I also remember people saying they thought Test had potential, this was before he got lost in the shuffle after Steph turned heel.

Well it's not so much a conspiracy as it's just a fact some people are more popular than others, especially when you go with the context of which group you ask. I think what most people are trying to say is is that Cena, while of course popular, is not AS popular as WWE wishes he was. Yes the IWC bashes him for the most part, but there are a good number of fans booing him in even some of the usually marky towns. Back in their various heydays it was RARE to hear Hogan, SCSA, or Brett Hart to get ANY boos, unless they were of course heels. Granted we all were a little more "innocent" back then I suppose.
