I was looking through one of my old wrestling magazines and they go and try to defend the dress wearing gimmick Vito has been doing(or is he STILL doing it? I don't get RAW or SD) by bringing up other femining gimmicks they claim were "hot"
1. Gorgeous George: Well of course he was popular. Aside from being one of the very first pro-wrestlers with a gimmick, he was a heel.Folks loved to hate him.
2.Bernard Hermann-never really heard of him until now so I cannot fairly say anything about him....
3.Adorable Adonis:Uh, yeah from what I hear...HE and the fans HATED this gimmick. And he was heel and face! He was never popular to my knowledge during his whole "feminine" gimmick run. incredibly unpopular in fact from the way I hear it.
4. GoldDust: Oh please. Gold Dust was popular sure but then he wasn't just feminine--his gimmick was always more than that--a freakshow. Gold Dust really doesn't count IMHO.
As far as Vito and the stupid dress-wearing gimmick-I hate it. It's like the second coming of Adonis--take a guy with a tough street-fighter gimmick and give him a retarded feminine gimmick that is as stupid as the WCW booking team.

Rico was always kinda popular but then again he was a heel. I think what people fail to realize is that right or wrong-feminine male wrestling gimmicks get over best when they are heels--rarily do they get over as faces. And Vito isn't any good in said gimmick anyhoo.

Vito actually got released a few weeks ago.
As for his gimmick, it served its purpose. It gave him a character, it got over, and he became a beleiveable mid-carder. (Which was all he needed to be.)

Face-feminine Rico was pretty over. When he was in that weird love triangle with Haas/Gayda.

I feel kinda sorry for Vito, he was, as i remember it, really over in WCW then that all stopped with Invasion and so on.
He finally found something that worked for him and it was a cross dresser gimmick which he got over........only to be fired.

I thought Adrian Adonis was over huge with The Flower Shop and everything also he had almost the same gimmick as Vito a tough guy who wanted to wear a dress also he admited was married on TV so it wasnt really a gay gimmick.

Anybody remember Kweewee from the dying days of WCW? He was Rico before Rico! Or what about the West Holywod Blondes, the gay tag team that became a target for GLAAD until they broke them up?

I wonder if they were talking about the late film composer? Bernard Herrmann is one of the greatest film composers ever. I don't know how his name ended up in that list. Some of his film credits include Citizen Kane, The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956), Vertigo, Psycho, The Birds, Twisted Nerve, and Taxi Driver.

I liked Adrian Adonis' character.
And I thought Goldust was awesome in the 1995-1996 period.
All the groping and kissing. It was hilarious to see him kiss Ahmed Johnson and Lawler say "Hey, he saved his life he gave him CPR!!!!!"

Don't even talk about wrestlers using feminine gimmicks if you aren't going to mention this guy... www.bizarebazzar.com/The best to ever do that kind of gimmick. Period!

I have liked the stuff I've seen of Adrian Street. Entire gimmick seems to be bizarre feminine guy outside the ring, but the minute the match starts he beats the crap out of you. Which is a good character.

I thought Adonis got a lot of heat during his feud with Piper. Isn't that also what turned Roddy face when the Flower Shop took over where Piper's Pit used to be?

Adrian Street FOREVER.
I've only seen clips and archival footage, but the gimmick was essentially:
"Lalala, I like boys, pretty boys, do my hair, wear some glitter, daintily step through this ring ropes and KILL YOU! I'M GOING TO f***ing KILL YOU! YOU ARE GOING TO f***ing DIE!"
1...2...3...
"Eeeew, I got his sweat on me, eeew, scented bath needed PRONTO, then let's go to the club and dance! I love dancing!"
