Of course old ECW is better. That's comparing a one hour weekly show to an actual federation with its own rules and stars.

But the old ECW didnt have talented wrestlers like Bobby Lashley, and Kevin Thorn

I voted for the old ECW. The TV show may look slicker now, but back then there was a bigger roster, better "hardcore" matches, the "originals" were healthier, better wrestling matches, Joel Gertner's filthy poetry (which would NEVER play on WWETV no matter how edgy Vince thinks his product is), a lot less emphasis on dancing chicks and more on in-ring action... and a crowd that was completely and totally into the show. The crowd for the new ECW is comatose by comparison.
EDIT: I like Thorn, too, and he would have fit into the old ECW better than he does in the new ECW. But the old ECW had a better range of wrestlers in it's ranks, not a few huge powerhouses.
Mike Awesome > Bobby Lashley

I'd say both of those guys are more talented than guys like The Sandman and Axl Rotten and Balls Mahoney. But the reason ECW was better was because it connected with its fanbase much better than WWE will ever hope to.
ECW was a smaller promotion done more like an independent but got mainstream which is why it was so unique. They were pleasing a local crowd and managed to do it so well that it got over on national.

Hmmm, no one voted WWECW and interestingly enough I am not at all surprised.

The "new ECW" is actually a misnomer. In truth, there was only one ECW.

Did I watch (regularly I mean) or enjoy the old ECW???Not at all really.Did I respect it as a promotion???Yes.Is the new ECW better???Well for me I would say yes,but for reasons others would find REALLY stupid, like, for one,Im born and bred WWF/WWE and am obviously happy that they can proudly say they successfully own their competiton.Second is production,I hated the low budget production of the old ECW and would rather watch a much smoother, layed out show like the new ECW is (not that Ive ever seen a complete episode of it as I have no idea when it's on here in the UK and what channel it's on).So in a nutshell,Im 50/50.One thing I do wish is that people would give the new ECW a chance,it hasn't even been around for a full year yet,I say, give it time, and it will represent a very entertaining 3rd brand. From what Ive seen/heard/read etc it's already started to get a lot better.

I like the new ECW. I really do. I like it a lot.
But the real ECW was still a hell of a lot better, though it had its share of bad moments too.

Old ECW
New ECW is not bad though (Loses points for lack of Ariel now though)

it's apples and oranges, it's like comparing the new Monkees to the original, same type of concept, two completely different worlds. Old ECW was supposed to be low budget, that was part of its charm, new ECW is like a movie remake of Night Of The Living dead, with a slicker production-I'm just not into remakes

I much prefer old, though new has some things going for it. It just seems like for every step forward they take two steps back or something. I so tire of seeing stuff like Lashley and Vince when I think of the people sitting backstage collecting dust. (though that becomes easier to take with each new firing) I'm sure those paychecks are quite substantial, but I would think it would kill a wrestler to not be able to wrestle. Or rather, to be able to wrestle and never get the chance. (at least not on tv)

WWECW was decent until they decided to fire Sabu, Ariel, and now possibly Sandman. The roster is paper thin as it is, and I can understand the Sabu release, but there's no way firing Sandman or Balls will help anything.

Well it probably stayed truer to the original than the new ECW has, let's just say it's like the new Transformers, it's not really going to be like the cartoon, but it will still carry the name, the similarities will be limited
