5 years ago, it was 2002 and we started off with an aftermath from the crappy Invasion angle and we witnessed that horrific Katie Vick skit. We also had Brock Lesnar's monster push, Eric Bischoff's shocking Raw appearance, the brand extension, HLA and other stuff. Now in 2007, we are preparing for Vickie Guerrero as SD GM, Mr McMahon as "ECW" champ, Super Cena, Edge as our WHC (good thing), the summer time mid-card massacre and a non-existent cruiserweight division and a lot of other things are in store for 2007. So folks, is WWE better or worse compared to 5 years ago?

Business is better than it has been in 5 years. So I say better.

Overall it's better, because while Raw does blow, Smackdown and ECW are both very good most weeks.

I had more interest in watching it 5 years ago. I think it's pretty much the same as far as quality goes, I just find today's characters boring as hell.

I dunno. In 2002 we had Brock, Rock, Angle, Triple H, Hogan, Hall, Nash, a returning HBK and Ric Flair. Now we have Cena.
... I'd say five years ago was slightly better, probably.

2002 wasn't bad
- The rise of Lesnar - Rey mysterio debuts (or was that late 2001) - Taker was an awsome heel - Hogan/Rock - Jericho was Undisputed champ (for a bit) - HBK returned - Elimination chamber - Eric Bischoff (That was a hell of a shocker)
Now, it's dull

Actually reading some of the stuff here is actually making me rethink my choice...

I'll say better, but just slightly, as in my opinion the WCW/ECW invasion was really weak, and fell apart quickly.
Edge however keeps me guessing week in and week out, he's quickly replacing Pillman as wrestlings Loose Cannon.

I'm gonna say worse.
I could at least watch Raw back in 2002. For the past year or so it's just been the same old crap week in and week out.

I enjoyed WWE a lot more in 2002, then I do now that's for sure.
One of my favorite years of wrestling, after 1996-1998. Miss those days dearly, nowadays I can't sit through an entire Raw/SD episode.

Worse hands down. Rock vs Hogan? Flair vs Taker? NWO vs Rock and Stone Cold? Brock? HBK return? All this not better than fake ECW? Crappy main events? No my friends the current WWE product is a mear shell of what 2002 brought us. I can even remember a Hogan/Flair Raw match that actually envolved wrestling holds and reversals

2002 was the final year before things became a crap.
I still believe we are in recovery mode for the WWE, so I'm unsure.
RAW is horrendous these days though.

MUCH MUCh worse. We had some grade-A talent 5 years ago, but with all the injuries now, a lot of guys will have to step to try to make a name, and not all of those people deserve it.

That Hogan/Flair match from Raw '02 was terrible. I hate to say it, but it was pretty crappy. I mean, I still marked out like crazy. Undisputed Champion of the World (yeah, he was the champ before, during, and after the WWF name change, he rules) HULK HOGAN defends against "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair.......... in the year 2002?! I almost pooped when they announced that match.
The wrestling sucked... but come on... I almost pooped!

There are alot of guys who have seen thier push evaporate in the last 5 years. London, Kendrick, Chavo, Rey, RVD (yeah I know but hey..), Sheldon Benjamin, Charlie Haas, Cryme Tyme, I could go on. The point here is that alot of talent (Oh yeah Snitsky I forgot him) the point is alot of talent has gone un-used or under-used. I will always believe that Sheldon could have been a main event if they would have put him with a vet to develop his mic skills. His in-ring work is top tier but creative dropped the ball

Hulk Hogan or John Cena . . . Hulk Hogan or John Cena . . . can I just cut my hands off instead, or something?

WE HAD NWO IN THE WWF in 2002 that alone was more then enough for me to say it was better, we had hogan vs the rock the biggest match of the last 5 years. for me anyways
Also biker taker was on a role lol with that awesome match with flair at mania 18, i really enjoyed wrestling 5 years ago.
