WWE.com have reported that Shawn Michaels suffered a severe concussion at the hands of Randy Orton during their match at Judgment Day last night. WWE’s Dr. Ferdinand Rios told WWE.com that HBK has been sent home for further evaluation after suffering what is his second concussion in three weeks. Shawn Michaels’ wife looked on in horror.

Yeah no s***, one of the many reasons I hate Ortard. What happened after his last big "suspension"? He came back and was put RIGHT in a main event feud with Kurt Angle. Now, apparently he punishment was having John Cena make a gay joke about him, and he's right back going over the REAL main eventers again. He could take a dump on a Bible on live TV while shouting the N word repeatedly at the top of his lungs and his only punishment would be jobbing to Cena on a house show.

Here's what I don't like about the whole thing.

The guy has been in matches FAR, FAR more brutal than what we saw. He's been in the elimination chamber. He was in the first HIAC match. He (kayfabe) took numerous sledgehammer shots from HHH. The ladder match. The list goes on and on and on.

And we're supposed to believe that a weak push into a metal rack leads to a career ending concussion? Lame.

Now I understand that HBK blew his knee and couldn't work the match. I understand that they needed to come up with some way to write him out of the match. But this was just stupid.

Here's what I would've done.

Random interviewer/diva walks up to HBK's dressing room, announcing they're going to interview him. She knocks on the door, which opens slightly.

She walks into the room, saying "Shawn?................Shawn?.........Where are you? Sha.............SHAWNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!".

The camera cuts to a bloody and beaten HBK, laying out on the floor, obviously unable to compete.

The match continues virtually exactly like it played out on the PPV.

After the ref stops the match, Shawn is taken out on a stretcher. We see Randy standing in the ring the whole time. After he's wheeled away, Randy hops out of the ring, reaches under it, and pulls out a bloody baseball bat. His music starts, and the scene cuts to the back.

This story doesn't make HBK look weak, and instantly sets up the feud for when he returns.

I wish there were some way (but there isn't) for WWE.com to separate the legit news from the worked news. It's unfortunate that at least three times a month fans need to ask, "Is this real or not...?"

The way I see it, the injury is supposed to come off as his entire career of taking insane bumps finally caught up with him. Not Randy Orton single-handedly destroying HBK.

And stop with the "Orton needs to be punished" whining. When you invest millions of dollars into a company. Then you can go around punishing all the employees you want, if that's what gets you off.

No, but here's the thing.

Randy Orton, like it or not, is part of the company's future. He is one of the guys that the company is going to be built around. If you want your fans to have any respect for the guy (either as face or heel), you don't job him out to everybody else on the roster, no matter what reason. Why? After a while, fans simply stop caring.

Randy's a douche. He deserves to be punished for his actions. Give him a fine. Give him a 30 day suspension, writing him out of storylies in such a way as to not hurt the character when he returns. Make him spend a night with JBL. Whatever. Punish Randy Orton the person. But if you want fans to actually care about him in the long term, Randy orton the character must be protected and handled properly. You don't ruin the character for the actions of the person.

I guess wrestling is just an odd business. For instance, if a pro athelete in a mainstream sport were to f*** up like Ortard does....they'd likely be suspended, hurting their career and quite possibly their team's chances. But in the WWE there is no consistancy. THAT is what makes me angry. Rhino breaks a flowerpot and gets fired. If the rumor is to be believed, Ariel stood up to Batista in an argument and...got fired. Orton does $30,000-$50,000 damage to a hotel and....goes over a former world champion on PPV. Nice.

That's irrelevant. You don't job out a guy who you intend to build the company around. The fact remains that Vince has long-term plans for Randy. If you job him out too much in order to "punish" him, you risk those long term plans failing because the fans stop caring. You hurt not only Randy, but the entire company as well.

Oh, trust me, I agree with you on that one. In fact, I make the exact same comparison when discussing it among my friends. I guarantee you that if it were someone largely irrelevant to the company's long term plans (Say, Trevor Murdoch), he'd have been wished well in his future endeavors before they were done tallying up the damage he had caused.

But that's where the difference is. Randy orton is someone Vince is planning on building the company around in the long term, so he's going to get a LOT more leeway than your average dime-a-dozen midcarder. It sucks, but it's the way things work.

No matter what, though, my point still stands. Punish the person, not the character.

Well I guess your point is that Vince plans on building Orton into something huge, and my point is he'll never BE huge because he totally sucks and is not worth the build.

So basically we can both still be right.

But I still wanna see Orton job to everyone on the roster then put into one of Triple H's patented OVW shipping crates.

Exactly. And that's why you don't job him out. You can't job him out to everyone on the roster, yet expect the fans to take him seriously as a main eventer.

Just because you want to see it doesn't mean it's what's best for the company in the long term.

What I'd like to see: After jobbing out to Val Venis for the 4th week in a row on Heat, they cut to a backstage scene. On top of Randy's gym bag is a note saying "We wish you all the best of luck in your future endeavors." He then proceeds to grab the gym bag. Chloe suddenly leaps out of the bag and into Torrie's arms, who walks away saying "Good boy, Chloe". The last thing we see is Randy looking into his bag and going "eeewwwwww", as the other Divas look on.
