I put it to all of you that the Royal Rumble match is the greatest match type of all time, above barbed wire, ladder matches, tables matches, submissions matches and yes, even Striker rules.
Here's why:
1. If you start to get bored, a minute and a half later someone new comes in and it gets interesting again. 2. It's no DQ, meaning allsorts of wacky stuff such as the 2001 'hardcore rumble' segment can happen. 3. It can absolutely MAKE people, like Austin and Rock and HBK and Kane and especially Chris Benoit. 4. It aids suspension of disbelief because it takes tons of effort to eliminate, say, The Big Show. 5. It can further 30 storylines at once. 6. Surprise entries are the bomb, be they someone who's been injured forever or just someone totally random like Tatanka or Bob Backlund or Drew Carey. 7. You get people fighting each other who you'd not see together ordinarily, which I always love, people like Al Snow and Rock in the same ring fighting with Prince Albert.
Yes, so in my eyes, greatest match, ever.

It's between the Rumble or the Kennel from Hell.

I love the Rumble.
If I could only buy one PPV a year, that would be it.

I really enjoy the Rumbles first time round but for me personally they don't stand up to repeat viewings. They are all about surprises so once you know them that's about it. They generally lack spots, good wrestling and are a bit weak on the story telling. Also winning the Rumble has less significance than it used to, witness Michael's getting to main event Wrestlemania this year.

I am still majorly bitter about the fact that Undertaker won the Rumble but DIDN'T main event Wrestlemania.

I definitely lost a lot of interest in the match after the 99' one, though. It never really seemed as important after that.

The Rumble is still to me very important especially this year since Hunter went down and we had NO CLUE who was gonna win the match this year. I think the winner of the Rumble gets to main event WrestleMania storyline should be taken out because unless you are on Raw, you don't get to main event the biggest show of the year.

I'd like to see them put a title on the line again; Even if it's just a one off.

I love the Rumble. If I could only buy one PPV a year, that would be it. Royal Rumble 2000 remains the first PPV I ever ordered, and it remains my favourite PPV of all time.

It's the one PPV of the year that I always see, no matter how bad the show is.

I still mark for the 98 one when there was a chainsaw in the ring.
