I'm just wondering, when he debuted in early 98, he made an immediate impact on the company and fueded with Kaientai over one of the members sisters(we all know what that lead to). After that, he continued to have women problems with Ken Shamrock's on-screen sister Ryan and fueding with the Worlds Most Dangerous Man and won the IC title. Basically 98/99 were his shining years. He played an important part of the Attitude Era, but the creative team failed to push him past the high mid-card despite his overness. Now, in 2007, he can be mostly found on Heat, where he still gets pops. Wikipedia referred to him as a "jobber to the stars". Just wondering, why did The Big Valbowski fizzle down to that low in card?

You try taking a guy who's only claim to fame in wrestling is banging chicks to the main event. S'not that easy.

Val has been criminally underused in recent years. He can have good matchs with just about anyone. And anytime he gets a backstage scene (rarely) he's always entertaining.
Still, Val is one of the people in the company (Along with Funaki, Scotty and Stevie) who will probably have a job for life.

Because the porn star gimmick can only be pushed so far.
Honestly Val Venis is probably my second favorite wrestler of that era behind only the rock. He was awesome as Chief Morely too. He looks so smooth in the ring and is great on the mic. It's too bad he's been downgraded to jobber extrordinaire.

I think the porn star gimmick has really hurt him. In the Attitude Era, that was easy to get away with but, when it ended, and the WWE tired to clean up a bit, he was stuck in it. I mean they tried to turn him away from the porn star stuff as a member of RTC, part of T & A and then as Bischoff's Chief of Staff and no one cared.

Simply put, Val makes a really great jobber. He is an extremely sound technical wrestler, and he is able to work with the new kids and give them that experience. He can make green wrestlers look good, so that is his role. I'm sure he brings home a good paycheck to do it too.

In my opinion, joining RTC killed him. About a month before joining, he abandoned the porn star character and just wore white trunks and boots and tried to put himself over as just a wrestler's wrestler. He had enough charisma and talent to actually do it... and right as it started going in a direction where it looked like it was taking off.... he was put into the Right To Censor and killed all the momentum he started to gain. After that, he never recovered.

Venis was a good wrestler, but don't feel bad for him. He had two IC title runs, a crack at the European title, and a tag team reign with Lance Storm.
He's a jobber to the stars....and its good pay. Plus, its not like he's a glorified jobber like........Brooklyn Brawler.

Paul Birchill reminds me of classic Val Venis, as far as looks are concerned.
Just thought I'd get that out there.

Gotta give him respect the guy took that splash from the top of the cage from Rikishi. Can imagine creative running it through with Val before the match "So let Rikishi climb to the top of the cage and let all of his 400lb splash down on you, your alright with that Sean?" "Pardon?" "If you survive it you are booked to win and retain the belt" "ah..O.k."

those preview of him were classic, and his titantron was even better. Putting the hot dog into the buns was genius
