Good thing, Daily Motion. Whilst YouTube gets rid of most videos due to ol' Vinnie Mac breathing down their necks, you can trust the French to have different laws so that you can watch tonnes on there.
But whilst I was browsing, I found someone's account were chock full of 1999/2000 WWF promos, matches etc so I thought I checked it out. Every big name you could think of was there. Austin, HHH, Taker, Rock, Kane, Big Show and...The McMahons.
And that's when it hit me. That was it during that period. Everyone else was pratically a jobber whilst nights were dedicated to Rock,Taker, Kane and the McMahon/Helmsley Regime. And all the while, it was basically all about Rock/Taker/Kane either kicking the regime's ass or getting an ass kicking.
And to be honest, I didn't like it. The roster was full of guys who were more than capable of being made into stars, so what was the point of dedicating it to guys who were already stars? The main selling point of the PPVs was just 'Oh look, someone is taking HHH on. Oh look now, HHH retains.' It was exactly why I hated when HHH dominated with the World Heavyweight title, but having said that, at least Rock, Taker, Austin and Kane were able to chase more for it.
Really, could someone tell me what was the main appeal behind these sort of angles? Or is it because WCW was dying and they didn't really care about what they put out?

No, That period you could buy anyone coming into the main event scene. I dunno, it just didn't seem that way to me. I mean, we can take Jericho into this and Benoit, but it didn't really seem like...much. Maybe I needed to be watching in the time to properly understand it.

You just didn't care, for me it was the most fun wrestling period (My Markism was at it's peak then)

I just think that back then you could take a Val Venis or a Benoit, Jericho, Guerrero, Malenko, etc. and have them believably get into a title feud with some pushing.
Look what they did with Kurt Angle, the built him up until finally he won the World Title.

Look what they did with Kurt Angle, the built him up until finally he won the World Title. They pushed Val towards the main event in that feud with Foley. I don't think anybody bought him as a threat. At that same time they pushed Bulldog into that feud with Rock. I don't think anybody bought into him either. Both of them were back to the midcard a few weeks later. The people that could have been pushed believably were Angle, Jericho, Benoit, and Guerrero. They all eventually became World champs, so it worked out. Otherwise, it was the equivalent of pushing Chris Masters or Kenny Dykstra, or someone like that today.
