Watching him and Heenan shake hands and embrace is definitely a retroactive mark-out moment. Funny how the kids knew to boo him even before they had any idea who he was.
Meanwhile, looks like they shot that Raw in a high school gym.

Heenan is missed on tv.

Heenan's initial reaction to seeing Cornette is awesome. I'm pretty sure he knew that Cornette was coming, but he did a good job of looking completely shocked.

Funny how the kids knew to boo him even before they had any idea who he was. Its not that hard to believe. Cornette has a long history in national wrestling and depending on where it was taped (or whether or not they watched NWA/WCW or SMW) they could have known who he was. Plus as was said the Apter Mags were all over the place so that could have tipped some off too.

Those still would've mostly been the older fans. It was the 7-8 year old kids who were booing and giving the thumbs down that was funny. Even if they did read the Apter mags, they probably would've skipped over articles about indies, and maybe WCW, depending if they watched it or not (WWF was filming Raw exclusively in the Northeast at this time, their stronghold, and away from the southern WCW fans).

I am sure they trotted Cornette out prior to that segemnt taping so he could call the fans rednecks etc. or he gave them some of his WWF approved one liners. Maybe Heenan grabbed the mic prior to that segment and put Cornette "over". Remember, this was at a time when Vince thought that fans were oblivious to any wrestling outside the WWF. I remember seeing the segment and thinking that something was fishy.

Well, there were kids like me had no idea who Cornette was.
Once we saw Heenan mark out and embrace him.........we knew to boo.
Praise be the power of The Brain!

I remember watching this when it first happened, and I (being 9 years old) had no idea who Cornette was, but yeah, when he and Heenan hugged in the ring, I knew he was a "bad guy". This was pre-internet and such, and he hadn't been on WCW programming much in the early 90s (or at least as much as I watched, which was pretty limited)
