What's everyone's opinion on him? I haven't seen him mentioned much on here, but I think he's damn good in the ring. He reminds me of Benoit A LOT. I was pleased to hear he recently returned.

He's no Benoit, but he's not bad, either.
Stylistically, he may seem a bit Benoit-ish, but in terms of character/getting his persona over, he's not at Benoit's level (Benoit is a master of facial expressions, emoting during a match, etc. Really gets his charisma, and, yes, he DOES have charisma, just not the big promo cutting kind, over).
Nevertheless, I enjoyed John Walters during his ROH run, just wish he had developed more of a personality. That's why I had such high hopes when he joined the Embassy back in '05, I figured it'd bring out a new side of him (and, if the first couple matches after he joined were any indication, it actually did), but he took time off too soon afterwards.

He had some pretty rad genie pants. So for that, I give him some massive kudos. I've been impressed in what few matches I've seen, and yeah, I guess that doesn't mean much.

Wasn't it his intention to actually quit the business at this point, rather than take time off? I know a lot of guys "quit" and are back in the ring within the year, but I read an interview online where Walters seemed to say he was done with wrestling for the forseeable future. That might explain the odd timing. I like him a lot myself, glad to hear he is returning after all.

Didn't he job a few times on Hea and Velocity. Yeah, enough so that some wondered if he might be developmental territory bound eventually.

It's funny because I've always thought about starting this same thread. But am too lazy so never really got around too it. Iv'e always wondered how people feel about him. You never hear much about him. And after viewing one match I was reallly impressed by how skilled he is. Ever since then Ive seen others and he is awesome. Which has always made me wonder why I never hear much about him.

Walters sucks. He's boring and his technical stuff is gay.

I'm a big John Walters fan. I've enjoyed everything of his I've seen. He's great. Hope he sticks around ROH.

If nothing else, I think everyone should be able to agree that, even if you don't particularly like Walters, he makes a fine addition to any midcard/upper-midcard. I think he's like Xavier, in that regard; both are better than they're often characterized to be, just not big time, main event material.

I wouldn't mind seeing him in a tag team.
That said, his match with Nigel at Honor Reclaims Boston is one of my least favorite Nigel matches of the year. Solid arm work for a while from both wrestlers, then Nigel hits four finishers in a row. And Walters got in no major offense...pretty lame. I would hope he'll do better in future appearances (he'll probably be a fixture in Boston like Jason Blade is in Connecticut).

I'm a fan. I haven't seen a whole lot of him but I did enjoy his run with the ROH Pure Title.

Wow - this answers my question - just the other day in the pub, my mate Dougie asked me "What ever happened to John Walters"? We were convinced he was still sorting that trouble out in Ghana!
I love him - check out any of his matches against Generation Next. The guy is smooth.
Is he coming back to ROH then? I've been out of the loop for a couple of months.
