Hardcore Holly was trashcan lids. Blackman had the dual sticks. I know Blackman had the sticks, too, but didn't he used to batter people with twin trash can lids? I'm sure Blackman, being in the Hardcore divi, used trashcan lids, but Holly's weapon move around this time was windmilling his arms with two trash can lids and hitting a guy over the head repeatedly.

I loved when he would put a trash can on someone and pound on the can with his escrima sticks. Good stuff.

Back in my first few years of watching wrestling, at the tender age of fourteen, I thought Blackman was the coolest guy on the entire show. I cheered harder for him than I did for Austin (but not as much as I did for Jericho).

Blackman was an awesome enforcer type. He used to bring a black canvas back filled with kendo sticks, escrima sticks, tonfas, all sorts of martial arts weapons. Like an assassin or something. I'd love to see him back.

Hardcore Holly was trashcan lids. Blackman had the dual sticks. I know Blackman had the sticks, too, but didn't he used to batter people with twin trash can lids? Yes, and 'twas a thing of beauty... he would beat on the very quickly, and then do the trashcan version of a spinning back fist. His gimmick in hardcore matches was essentially that he was unbeatable... with those sticks, any losses were hard to imagine.

I wish I could find the Head Cheese promo where Al Snow is talking and Blackman is fending off 6 opponents behind him because he was still the Hardcore Champion, and he just ends up caning his way to victory anyway. It was such a change from Crash Holly having to rely on wit to keep his title during 24/7, whereas Blackman was just ready to fight at any time and nobody could sneak up on him.* *not to discredit Crash, I enjoyed his run as the Houdini of Hardcore, I'm just showing the contrast of styles.

I always thought Blackman was exceptional, but never got the props he deserved, as he wasn't charismatic... but he WAS a really credible one-man wrecking crew, and should have had this role in a stable. I actually always thought he'd make a great Horseman, in the role of a silent guy who doesn't join in with the partyin' but just gets the job done. I was thinking along the same lines, except instead of a Horesemen-like stable, he should have joined the Nation. He'd be a perfect fit! He is a Black-man, after all. ;D Thanks, folks. I'll be here all week. Try the veal, and don't forget to tip your waitress!

Did anybody hold the Hardcore Title as long as Blackman did? He really brought credibilty to that title in 2000, as he was the unstoppable guy who you thought would never lose.

Yeah Blackman was one of my favorites a few years ago. I remember reading on a news site a year or so that he was coming back, but it never happened . Wasn't there a problem with him though like I though he was having neck problems or something.

He actually set no records either in number of reigns (only had 6) or length of reigns under either normal or 24/7 rules. However his longest reign was for 59 days, 1 month shy of the longest 24/7 run set by RVD, and he has about 130 total days combined across all his reigns, which is pretty good for only 6 reigns total especially in the high speed world of 24/7 rules. And yeah, his multi-month runs really brought credibility back to the title.

He had a rare heart disease or blood disease or something. Malaria in 93 from wrestling in Africa, so he spent years recovering, and then I also heard he had neck problems too that caused his retirement.

I'd love to see him back. Yeah, I remember when he first turned heel in 1999. You didn't know why, but he just started attacking Shamrock for an unknown reason. Than at King of the Ring that year, for storyline purposes, he almost teamed up with McMahon against Austin. The way they set that up, with McMahon calling him on the phone and telling him to come back to the arena and stuff, kinda made him look like the hired assassin you mentioned. His run over the next 12 months weren't bad at all. God bless Shane McMahon.

I marked so much for Steve Blackman. I have a tape of Rebellion 2000, and there's a short but sweet hardcore match between him and Saturn. Blackman does some crazy stuff with the sticks, like a back suplex mixed with an escrima stick low blow, and this crazy combo with the sticks where he hits Saturn like 20 times in 4 seconds. There's also a sweet spot with Saturn going for a suicide dive, but Blackman hits him with the SICKEST ever cookie tray shot right in the head. Plus his match with Shane at SS00 was gold. I always wanted Blackman to get a Euro or IC title run, I'm still suprised that he never became IC champion.
