Morishima is the next big thing in Japanese wrestling. So what if he looks like a severly bloated fat 12 year old girl. He has a look that you don't think he could be a bad ass but he seems tougher than Joe is. Three Back Drop Drivers? Lariets? Seriously anyone who thinks this win is bad is stupid. Homicide never even looked like a world champion. The only guy I can see beating him is Nigel McGuiness. Other than that I don't know? KENTA? No way, I can'tsee it. BJ? HAHAHAHAHAHA! No.

I never saw cide as a roh world champion either, but he still should've held onto the belt a little longer. Regardless of Homicide though, I do not like this Morishima kid. I wanted Joe to KILL him at GBHVN2 so bad! This kid just doesn't have the look too me. I know I'll get flammed for my veiws on this but I don't care. I do like Japanese wrestlers, but I will never like this guy. I wish that Kenta would've gotten the title instead. HECK Muta could've won the freaking title, but Morishima! Give me a break. I hope he doesn't keep the title long at all. If so I will be skipping a lot of main events on upcoming ROH dvd's that I purchase.
Glad Cide at least got to win the belt for the hard work he has done. But I don't think he should win the title back. I'm thinking Nigel should be the one to beat Morishima. With how fat Morishima is, you don't need someone like a Jimmy Rave beating him for the belt. Nigel seems the better pick in this situation.

For everyone saying that Morishima is just a fat guy, just wait till you see him in the ring. I didn't know much about him before ROH announced him, and I watched a recent match of his against Kentafuji. It blew me away. The guy can go. Trust me.

I find it interesting how a lot of people are saying that this is an example of "everyone jobbing to NOAH."
I really can't say that I think that's true. To me, putting a title on a guy is like putting a big neon sign on him saying "Hey, someone is going to totally destroy me in a few months." (At this point Nigel is a likely candidate, IMO...admittedly, he's a NOAH guy too).

Well...I'm shocked.
And also, I could've sworn Morishima was a bit skinnier. Oh well. I've never seen the guy wrestle, but I was told that he had like a Chris Benoit style, and reading what I've read, I guess I was told wrong. Personally, if the guy can move, good for him. I like big guys that can move. I'll wait until I actually see the guy wrestle to pass judgement.

After a quick viewing of a couple of his matches, I'm pretty much ok with this. I don't care if he's 5000 pounds and looks like Yokozuna. If they guy can work like this then give him the belt. My beef isn't with Morishima actually being World Champion. As far as I'm concerned that's fine. I'm just kind of pissed that Cide worked that hard and that long to get it, finally vanquished Samoa Joe, ended the winning streak of the white hot Jimmy Rave, then in 15 minutes got demolished for his title. Being a Cide fan this just kind of disappoints me.

I don't expect him to hold the title for very long. I'll just say that. A month at the most. I'll call it right here.

You know I'm not one to care about a wrestler's look, and I usually disagree with those who do, but I just have to make an exception here. I don't care how good he is. I really don't. The dude looks like a hissy fat 15 year old girl. It's the same problem I have with Low-Ki. Yeah, he may hit hard, he may put on great matches, yes he may be that good (and that's probably all that really matters), but I CANNOT take someone seriously if they don't have a good look. At least Joe looks somewhat normal and has some muscle to him underneath his jigglyness. This guy just looks like that fat bully in Kindergarden who jacks kid's puddings. I know I don't follow ROH all that much, but it's no secret that Homicide worked HARD for that title, and after months and months of chasing Dragon and finally winning it, this seems really sucky. It may be due to TNA, but whatever, it just seems really shady. You really need to watch some Rickson Gracia matches when he was just beggining in UFC. He was small and skinny, the announcers even made fun of him. But as soon the bell rang, everbody shut up an started respecting him. Morishima is a puro wrestler. They tend to not care that much by how he looks, but more about what they can do to please a crowd. You must undestand that everbody has it´s appeal. Morishima is his ability.

Personally, I think Morishima's appeal is largely in his bizarre look. He looks non-threatening, with the chubbiness and the girly-hair...until you realize he's a 6'+ monster who moves as well as Joe. That combination of non-threatening and intimidating aspects in his appearance is awesome, IMO.

I saw his match with Misawa that someone posted earlier. Like I said, it doesn't matter to me if the dude can go, if I can't take him seriously, odds are that isn't changing, no matter what he does. And that's why I watch wrestling, not UFC. I KNOW looks shouldn't (and don't) realistically matter in a real fight, but that's why I watch pro wrestling. I don't care what he can do, if he doesn't have that look where I can buy what he's doing, it just ain't happening. Is it picky? Probably, but I like to think it's pretty easy to get. And that last part is probably why I'm not into Puro. Ability isn't enough for me to like someone.

I believe Morishima as a wrestler more than Joe. Joe has jiggly boobs, Morishima does not. And I definitely buy Morishima as a wrestler over a 5 nothing Homicide.

Eh, I never cared for people that do a bunch of lariats and suplexes for most of the match. That's why I'm not really into strong style, combined with the fact that said people are always touted as badasses.

That being said I feel the future of wrestling in north america will be strong style. So I think he will see more of people like Joe or Morishima. Thats probaly how bigger wrestlers will progress as. I hope so.

Maybe.
I mean I see the apeal and all, but when you first see a really hard lariat or a dude dropped on his head you go "HOLY CRAP! DID YOU SEE THAT GUY GET TOTALLY DROPPED!" but when you see stiff lariats and backdrop drivers like 10 or 15 times during a match it tends to lose it's apeal, for me at least.
Other Japanese matches I seem to be fine with though. Tajiri and Muta had an awesome match some time back. But I can't dig into strong style.

If you hit someone with your finisher 4 times in a row, I'd think they should be knocked out. Or if you take their head off 10 times in a row.
