After Takeshi Morishima's amazing win over Homicide it made me think of maybe we are in a new wave of amazing stars from Japan. The new stars of Japan seem to be off the page and it seems that we are seeing the next generation of Japanese wrestling today. In the late eighties and early ninties we saw people like Kobashi, Misawa, Jushin Liger, Muta and Chono take over for legends like Giant Baba, Antonio Inoki and Genichiro Tenryu. To me thats beginning now. Anyway that s what I feel is happening and I hope it is.

You forgot a few people in here, such as Milano Collection AT, Bad Boy Hido, etc.
Out of those, I say CIMA, none of those other guys absolutely ooze charisma the way CIMA does, and CIMA is one of the most well-rounded wrestlers I've ever seen, I've never seen anyone similar to him except Eddie Guerrero in WCW and partially in WWE. But in my own opinion, I see Naruki Doi as the future, everything about him just seems perfect, and he just looks like a main eventer, I can see him in the Tokyo Dome in 2008-9.

Yeah i realized I forgot AT too. He might actually be my favorite. Hmmm Naruki Doi? Never heard of him I have to see how good he is.

Nakamura reminds me so much of Chono. And he is a great strongstyle wrestler. He also has a certain credibility around him which for example KENTA lacks (but makes up for in coolness).
Another wrestler I really like is Katsuyori Shibata. He is just plain bad ass. A though as hell wrestler, awesome fighter, very intense but with the cocky arrogant charisma that Orton has too.
In Shibata I see a younger version of Tenryu.

All rule, but I prefer CIMA's fast paced style, closely followed by Morishima's Japanese Joe.

No room for Razor Ramon HG? I'm just a massive KENTA mark. I like everything I've seen from CIMA aswell

Where's Marafuji?
I voted for KENTA because he seems to be more versatile than Morishima.

Marafuji is better than KENTA, even if he uses the superkick as much as Orton uses a chinlock
Oh most of those guys aren't really the "future" they are more like the present.

While I'm thinking about it, how is Milano doing in Japan? I turned into a big mark for the guy after seeing him in Chikara, and never get to see any puro stuff.

He's a part of Team BLACK with Chono and company, so he gets a win (not really him but his team) in some shows and loses (he took the fall this Saturday, if I'm not mistaken) some times also. At least he's around legit main-eventers/upper-midcarders.
Since nobody put a vote on him, I call Tanahashi. He can put on a tremendous match, works well against either heavys or Jr. Heavys, and he has appeal to both the male and female public (or so It seems to be, listening to the reactions on his matches).

Takashi Sugiura is a complete bad ass in NOAH, he has an aura around of completely "I will kill you in front of your parents, and then laugh" complex about him. And also he a versatile style to him, able to strike, and matwork with the best of them. And his match with Kenta at the 6/4/06 show I believe, where he won the GHC Jr. Heavyweight was a tremendous match. He's my pick to go into the heavyweights someday soon.

Out of everyone on that list, I love Morishima's "legit-ness". All around, though, I probably mark most for Marufuji, who should really be on that list. It's a crime his GHC title reign wasn't just a little longer.
But, yeah, like Joekishi said, most of these guys are really the present now (especially Tanahashi), not so much the future...although you could consider them "the future" when it comes to how American audiences will perceive Japanese wrestling over the next decade or so. Ten years ago, Americans associated puro with the styles of Mutoh, Chono, Lyger, and Misawa, but now we might be moving to the point where it's more the styles of CIMA, KENTA, Morishima, Marufuji, and Tanahashi.

I said KENTA. I'm starting to avidly watch NOAH now, and every match KENTA is in has a huge feeling to it. He's great. CIMA would be my second vote, as I think he's got tons of charisma and can play face or heel really well.
