I have both of these matches on a Waylon Mercy tribute disc, I am that much of a mark. I really hope the gimmick comes back.

I loved the Waylon Mercy gimmick, it was just so different. Granted, Max Cady is one of my favorite cinematic villains, so that could have something to do with it, but Spivey just had that look. Shame he was more or less broken down by that point, but I will agree that the gimmick needs to be brought back.

Waylon Mercy rocked. Mainly because he really looked like he was f***ing nuts.

Dude...Jeff botches a 450 clothesline sell in that video around the 1:20 mark and lands on his head...ouch. My opinion is much like that of Jake Roberts: unbelievable mind for the psychological aspect of wrestling, but average ability. Overall, it's not painful to watch or anything but I still prefer a few sporadic periods of action.

Both knees were shot.

Spivey was broken down body wise by this point and was never a high flyer that some of the "fanboys" seem to cling to. as for action sorry but jeff hardy gets way to much credit i liked him as a jobber it was fitting IMHO.

I was more impressed with the fact that Lightning Foot Jerry Flynn was actually on WWF TV.
And that he spoke!

From Wiki: Huh? I don't look at Dan Spivey and think 'photogenic'. Well, in that case take a look at this homo-erotic picture of Spivey.

That was beautiful. I'd never seen a Waylon Mercy match before, but that was just great.
"I'm sorry, ref." Ha ha!

If he didn't have bad knees he would been a big star I think. The gimmick was good.
