Rey in WWE is pure shit. Whether he's either injured, working with people that either leagues ahead of him or behind him, or booked horribly. Then there is whole "If you have seen one Rey WWE match, you have seen them all" thing. What he did in 96-00 was awesome but, during his time away from the national scene, he was made to look old (and he is) by the new generation of high flyers.
And there is no way in hell, Rey would have been WHC. He may have had a shot or feud against Eddy (who was supposed to win it from Batista) but, he would not have held the belt.

I agree with the original poater. Rey gets too much crap for that storyline. I wonder if the same would have been said about Benoit if HE had been in Rey's place. And I am a HUGE Benoit mark.
No, the problem with Rey's title reign was not the Eddie storyline, but the fact that as a champion he couldn't win a match to save his life. What happened to the underdog overcoming the odds? He jobbed so many times to Henry that I began to feel that Henry, WHO I DESPISE, was being robbed and should have been champ.

After the whole "My Lunch with Rey Mysterio" debacle, I get angry when someone beings this up because he was booked into oblivion from the start with this whole Eddie thing.
I loved seeing him hoist up the belt at WM. I hated that he got instantly buried afterwards.
Had he been booked differently, I could've bought his title reign. It could've lasted the same amount of time, but if he got booked against people he could appear to hold his own against, like Orton or Benoit or someone other than Generic Hoss #245, it would have seemed much more realistic, and noteworthy.
And not only was he booked like this, but he was told that it no way affected his standing as a contibnutor to the product or as a champion. But I think this means that he'll never hold a top title in the WWE ever again. First he gets buried, and then he's told 'it's OK, bucko, you're still great".

I like Rey. He got a better match out of Mark Henry than Taker could. That's enough of a reason for me.

I see everyone's point regarding the 619, but I have to ask: was it so hard to believe that someone ended up in the same position in pretty much every Big Bossman match where he would do the "slide out of the ring and uppercut the dude all to hell" spot, or in a Jericho match where he would do the "jump on the dude's back" spot?
Misterio gets a lot of flack for his moveset, but I think a lot of people should let the 619 thing slide. (not anyone in particular, but to me it's not that hard to believe, especially since "Random Wrestler A" had to "see it coming" in the BBM and/or Y2J examples.)

As far as I remember, in most of Bossman's matches he would usually put the guy on the second rope and choke him then do the slide-in and out uppercut thingy.

To me its not the move, its the set up. It doesn't bother me that he hits it. I just wish they would come up with a different way for the opponent to land in postion. Everytime it the opponent gets hit and lands there. Why not have the guy fall on the mat, use the ropes to pull himself up and then have Mysterio hit it? Or the drop toe hold into the ropes? Rey hasn't done that in years.

You may be right; I don't remember the last time I actually saw a Bossman match. Same for Jericho. But I stand by my opinion that it's not that convoluted. Somewhat, yes, but it's not like Misterio is gorilla-pressing The Great Khali or something. You have a point, too. It would look a lot better doing it the way you suggested.

Hi I wanted to say this. Alot of people seem to hate Mysterio over the whole Guerrero storyline. As much as I despised it and Mysterio did basically become the surrogate for Guerrero which I did not like. I still really like Rey and I want him to come back. It's so unfortunate that someone as talented as Rey had to do that and I gurantee he did not want to but number one Wrestlers do not have there own union and second he wouldn't have gotten anything if he refused to do it and as much as he thought it was bad he still had to do it. The actually use of Chavo and Vickie offended me more. Anyway my point is I doubt when Rey returns he will be doing this and i bet/hope they will book him better because that title run was horrible but not because of him. I feel saying you don't want to see him come back after one stupid storyline is idiotic, plus with the only other possible full-time faces being Batista and Matt Hardy they need Mysterio back badly. Weren't you the guy who claimed to have lunch with Rey Mysterio after trying to get him to sign the "who died and made you champ sign" at a car show? Of course, when people asked for proof, you would not upload it. You have a Mysterio fetish and you are secretly attempting to spread it. Admit it.

I'll admit, I have treated him unfairly.
I've been known to hold tacos over my head just above his reach.

Except Foley he never gets bashed by the internet fans. Never. Nah, I've seen some Foley hate on this board. I don't think he has any Mick Foley Hate Threads, but I have seen slams at him here.

I don't hate Foley, just that I don't like watching him anymore. His recent comeback job tours have been boring,IMO.

Back to the whole World Title situation.
I read reports in SEPTEMBER 2005 saying that Rey was going to be winning the World Title soon.

i've never been a Rey fan. I think he's way too small to be a main eventer and I want to see a jumping bean or somebody doing gynmastics I'll get out my Mary Lou Retton tapes. I think the fact that he allowed his son to be used in a distasteful story line (and not just in name but actually being there) really turned me off and then the Eddie story line after his death was really distasteful. Basically he got his push because his "best friend" died.
I don't think he's being treated unfairly I just think the current consensus has him on the S***t list it might change when he comes back but I for one have never been a fan nor will I ever be.
