Mania momentum
February 21, 2007
A most unlikely individual - Donald Trump - took WrestleMania 23 to the extreme when he selected Bobby Lashley as his representative in the Battle of the Billionaires. Mr. McMahon cannot be too happy about this news and neither can the Chairman's choice, Umaga, especially after the brawl between Lashley and the Samoan Bulldozer on Raw that took nearly two dozen security guards, referees and officials to break up.
In fact, Mr. McMahon was so upset that he left Raw, telling Jonathan Coachman that he was heading to San Jose to teach Lashley a lesson on his own turf, ECW on Sci Fi. He also promised to make Lashley's life "a living hell." What does the Chairman have in store for the ECW World Champion? Has "The Donald" found the one competitor who can keep Trump's infamous mane unshaved?
Lashley has his hands full, as he will also meet Hardcore Holly in a Steel Cage Match for the ECW World Title. Anything can happen when these two ECW Superstars do battle in a steel cage. Who will prevail as ECW World Champion when the night is over? Last week, the ECW Originals won their latest battle with the New Breed when Rob Van Dam pinned Kevin Thorn after a Five-Star Frog Splash. But the war between the two sides seems far from over. What will be the next chapter in this battle for supremacy in the Land of the Extreme? CM Punk has said he thrives on competition, and now he has won the right to compete on the grandest stage of them all, in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania 23. With his victory over Raw's Johnny Nitro on ECW on Sci Fi, he will now represent ECW at WrestleMania. How will the other ECW Superstars react to the straightedge young star’s upcoming debut at sports-entertainment's greatest event?
Find out Tuesday night on ECW on Sci Fi at 10/9 CT.

As much as people are going to hate me for this, after he beat Nitro, now I want to see Punk get smacked around by Snitsky for no reason.

TONIGHT:
--Snitsky randomly kicks a crew member as he somehow continues DOWN the ladder of success. No really, first Lashley, then CM Punk, and last week...two jobbers? Who is left for Snitsky?!
--La Resistance show how extreme Frenchmen can be...with hilarious results.
--Will we learn the shocking secret behind Kevin Thorn and Bite Clubs?
--Just what is CM Punk addicted too?!
--Lashley will face...does that really matter?
--Vince McMahon IS backstage!
--Test is NOT backstage.
All tonight on ECW!....Not for nothin!

Is there going to be a MITB qualifier tonight? They would have probably announced it by now. Then again, it may be a "surprise match" that pits a New Breed wrestler against an Original. Maybe Sabu vs. Elijah Burke. I'd be happy with either winner.

ECW has been neutered, as it's solitary TESTicle has been clipped off.

I refuse to watch ECW on the Sci-Fi Network.
It's probably been said a hundred thousand million times, but I really miss the old ECW. They could still have the current ECW roster, but why should "Extreme Rules" be a special-stipulation on a show that's called "Extreme Championship Wrestling"? Are the new boys AFRAID to take it to the extreme? Or maybe it's the "powers that be" that fear the barbed-wire and the cheese-graters and the flaming tables...
Either way, this "new " ECW pales in comparison to the extreme days of old. I even read that Sabu has been barred from using his aerial moves, which is 80% of his in-ring repertoire, as well as the very thing that made him into the legend that he is today.
I know that the old ECW will never return. In its place is a piss-poor imposter, which is why I refuse to watch it on Tuesday nights. Instead, I will stick to my ECW DVD collection.

I respect your opinion, but I know that this is ECW in name only and enjoy it for what it is: another hour of wrestling. You might just be missing glimpses of the future of the sport entertainment. ... Dang it Vince, stop editing my posts.

I think that if it didn't have the ECW name, it wouldn't be so badly accepted. I am getting to where I watch it and am enjoying it.

They could tell you that by watching every week, you would get 20 bucks mailed to you and people would say "yeah but I gotta wait 6-8 weeks to get it, what's the point? this sucks"

CM Punk has heat on him backstage due to him winning the MitB qualifier over Johnny Nitro. Backstage agent Arn Anderson was especially annoyed with Punk not using his usual finisher, instead deciding to use the Go 2 Sleep. It is expected for him to be jobbed out, or not since we're full of crap WWE can't ever decide anything.

Tonight on ECW!

Maybe Psycho Nitro will come out and cause Punk to lose whatever match he has.
