I don't mean the good guy faces, but the actual people of wrestling. It's gone from rude southerners and just lowlife people who you know are probably douche's in real life (I don't mean everyone, but you catch my drift) and wouldn't want to be around, to more urban and city people, or just not so much "I'll kick your ass if you look at me wrong" type of attitudes. I think it started to show a lot with people like The Rock, but now has changed to new coming talent of people like John Cena, CM Punk, Samoa Joe, Homicide, Edge, Cabana, Lashley.... I'm sure someone understands what I'm saying
I'm not trying to say all Southerners suck or all old timers rude assholes or anything like that and I'm definitely not talking about every legend, but I doubt talk show hosts will be choked out or reporters slapped in the face anymore.

But CM Punk looks like a douche in real life. I miss low down Southerner wrestlers, they looked awesome, see JBL

The people looking for the talent have broadened their reach. Go find some old pictures of wrestling. Those guys, with some exceptions, were very similar in style and look. (Not character, but build) We bag on Vince for having roid-monster boy-crushes, but that's not the only guy who gets picked up.
We have big guys, little guys, foreign guys, flippy guys, powerhouse guys... it's a big wide world of wrestling available now.
And, of course, Vince has roid monster boy-crushes.

Well if you look at the indies and really even WWE, the newer stars are much smaller. It is going back to that direction of the 60's and 70's. I mean look at Verne Gagne, Lou Threz, Buddy Rogers, Bruno Sammartino, Dory Funk jr., and Bob Backlund. None of those guys were roided up and all were world champions. The era of the roids will die eventually because WWE is a few years behind the curve all the time and the new thing is the strong style mixed with European style, and Lucha libre wrestling. Watch any indy card and you would see that. WWE will evolve but until than I guess the roids will rule, unfortunately.

Im from the South... about 100 miles south of Atlanta... I used to always go to NWA wrestling in the 80s.... and guess what? The people who used to go to the matches.. alot of them anyway, were regular, clean cut people just like the fans now. I think you are stereotyping Southerners.... and I dont like it... Sure you had mulletheads and rednecks at the matches... but you still have them today... and Atlanta is more "urban" those most American cities period.

Seeing as how the second post in this topic was "fu guys", I'll assume its not meant to be taken too seriously.
With that said, while I'm no fan of "rednecks", I'm even less of a fan of "urban" types (Unless they're the funny kind like Cryme Tyme who won't rob you. At least you can easily outwit a dumb hillbilly, he cant get you with his pitchfork from too far away, but your "urban" types can pull out the tech-9 and its over. AND I wouldn't call Lashley "urban".....I'd call him....well...lots of things that aren't very nice. But lets just say he doesn't exactly radiate a 'tough guy' vibe to me)
Wanna talk about douches, I've heard more douchy things about Randy Orton than almost anyone from the 80's...
And if you ask me, reporters getting slapped is a good thing. Predetermined or not, wrestlers STILL risk their health and well-being and should not be mocked for that.
