www.wrestleview.com/news2006/1172184556.shtmlNBC wanted to move it to a later slot. WWE balked, and it got cancelled. However, with a Hollywood Writer's union strike looming in June, it's been postponed until then. EDIT: My bad. NBC had it scheduled later, then changed its mind. This is where the issue arose, as Vince wanted the SNL audience. However, NBC didn't want to show the SNL audience wrestling, and this is where the issue arose.

That was a dumb move by WWE. The last two SNME got bad ratings, yet they thought they could stand up to NBC. Well, NBC showed you, didn't they Vince!!!!? DIDN'T THEY!!!!?

However, NBC didn't want to show the SNL audience wrestling, and this is where the issue arose. Not surprising, as when WWE was about to debut Cryme Tyme, they tried to pass it off as "SNL-like" humor. I'll bet NBC couldn't have agreed less with what they saw.

They should make Saturday Night's Main Event the one show that is still professional wrestling rather than sport's entertainment. The program should be mostly matches. Interviews should all be held in the locker room (with other wrestlers in the background preparing for their matches). They should be brief and the wrestler (not sports entertainer) should only talk about his upcoming match.
They should also have a special announce team. One that is only used for Saturday Night's Main Event, rather that changing announce teams for every brand. No more bikini bull riding contests. In fact no divas what-so-ever that aren't involved in the matches by which I mean managers or valets. No stupid gimmick matches other than traditional cage matches, battle royals, lumberjack matches etc...
As I said, let this be the one show that is profession wrestling and not sports entertainment.

As I said, let this be the one show that is profession wrestling and not sports entertainment. The ratings are bad enough as is. The only time wrestling has EVER succeeded in the mainstream was when sports entertainment was emphasized (mid 80s WWF, late 90s WWF, even mid 50s in the early age of TV)

In the 80's SNME worked because they had main event caliber matches on free TV. The only other wrestling on free TV consisted of squash matches fowwlowed by a "TV time remaining" main event that lasted 2 minutes. If SNME is to be successfull, PPV quality matches are required and that won't even guarantee success.

Now it's been cancelled & I am very sad.

Hey! Move SNME to Sci Fi! Or SNME to the CW! O.K.?
