Blah blah blah, Punk loses to Holly, yadda yadda yadda, he loses to Thorn at a HOUSE SHOW, yakkity yak don't talk back, he loses to Kennedy and gets squashed by Snitsky.
When everyone sees this and reads the news reports, they think, "ONOEZ PUNK IN TEH DOGEHOUSE WHYXORZ?!?!111"
A loss does not make a person dogged. Let's look at Melina and Nitro for a second, shall we? Who here remembers a report RIGHT after Nitro lost to Super Crazy that "Melina's in the doghouse, and WWE's taking it out on Nitro"? I do. But if Melina WAS chewing on a meatless bone, she wouldn't exactly be Women's champion now, WOULD SHE?
Same thing with Punk. Yeah, a victory over Knox may not be a big deal, and he DID beat Nitro to qualify for MITB3, but it's still the fact he either won OR is looking to be a step further up on the ladder. Hell, it was reported this past week Punk's name was among the few that could possibly WIN the MITB.
The people that cry every time Punk/Kennedy/Londrick/Hardy/whoever has to realize that there's a reason for everything, and it comes in due time. Like Holly. Sure, maybe it wasn't best to make Punk's first loss to him for no reason, but he eventually became a contender for the ECW World title. And how else can they push him up there? By having him beat the biggest babyface on the brand.
And the loss last night? Kennedy's also on his way for World title contendership. Perhaps it's a sign that they're planning to push him as well?
My point is, it's one thing for Punk to lose a match against whoever, it's another for Edge to lose to John Cena. Punk is still a midcarder, fairly new, popular, but even HE has to have losses at some point in his life. So please. Next time CM Punk has to job to Bobby Lashley or even Kenny Dykstra, please don't make a big deal about it.
After all. It's only wrestling.

He wasn't buried, by any means. However, there is a huge difference between being buried and a nonsensical loss. This, to me, is what happened. It was just one loss, nothing in the long run, but I think it speaks volumes for the creative team that they did NOTHING with the loss. Nothing positive came of it.
So Holly went over? Fine, but then, as the guy that ended the winnning streak, has momentum, and it needs to be capitalized on. I'm no Holly fan, but that's the basics. How did creative run with it? Holly got obliterated by Lashley.
So, by that standard, Lashley>Holly>Punk>everyone else on the roster. One guy comes out looking worth a damn in that sequence. Not a burial of Punk, not by any means, but simply booking that said "well, we only need to get one guy over off of this show, so let's just make everybody else just kinda there".

That match wasn't about Punk. It was about Kennedy. Kennedy has been on a roll ever since he's returned from his injury.

I think Kennedy will wind up taking a title in the next few months. Plus, at least IMO, the match was solid. Too short, but solid.

"The Lone Wolf" CM Punk will be fine. Like other said it was about Kennedy. Kennedy beat 8! 8! World Champions, Micheal Cole(oh so Sabu's ECW Title regins mean nothing?) Kennedy needs to look strong going in, I don't think he wins or need to win at Wrestlemania but needs a great performance. Someone like Punk or the Hardys would be great because it would give them a real boost and everyone else shouldn't win because the rest are former world champions and Finlay is just too old.

I agree completely.
However, it seems we've been conditioned to believe that the WWE will purposely de-push ANYBODY the internet loves, and will put people the internet hates on unending winning streaks.

Agreed with this completely, though the point i made more was that the others, save for Finlay were main-event-level heels and the winners in both previous MITBs were MIDCARDERS who needed a big win to move up.
