Last night on ECW, I was ready for the show to start with Edge pulling out his cell phone, calling Randy, perhaps talk about the celebration party from "Last night" and end the conversation with telling him about what he did on Raw: ending with...
"You got hour one." Click.
At the end of the show, Lashley comes out, but when they announce Randy, Edge comes out.
Edge makes fun of Lashley, and then comments that "I guess Randy isn't going to make it." demanding that the ref count him out.
1...2...3...4...5
Edge is laughing.
6...7...
Randy runs from the back, full speed, in his regular dress clothes.
8...9...
Randy slides in, sweating and exhausted. He gives a glare at Edge, takes his sweat stained shirt off (Cheap pop for the teenage girls) and promply gets distroyed by the fresh Lashley.
What gets accomplished?
--Edge looks more like a jerk. He is just a great heel.
--Randy gets even more hints of becoming a face or, at least, a tweener.
--Lashley looks dominant over a Raw superstar, despite the excuse that the man wasn't ready for a match.
Did anyone else see something like that happening?

If it's a face turn I will mark! I hate Orton as a heel he just is so bland! As a face you can be bland and get away with it. But as a heel you have to create intreast and get the crowd to hate you. Orton cannot get the crowd to boo him and he gets X-Pac heat. In my opinion turning him face the crowd will give him decent pops since the onlt times he gets booed is cheap heat. Plus he is better now than when he was a face originally so it should work. Also like I said last night never have Lashley and Orton face each other in a one-on-one match ever again!

The thing about his first "face" run was the fact that is was rushed. I mean, he wins the belt and the next night, Evolution kicks him out because Trips wants the belt. We are supposed to like him because Evolution rejects him? I mean, they got it right the way they did Batista's turn, but Randy was just thrown into the "good guy" spectre just too quickly in my opinion. This time, it seems like they are doing a slow build towards it, which could work. Of course, this is all just my opinion. For all I know, they might just make Edge the face...for no good reason.

Turning Edge face would not work. Also if they make Orton a reluctant fan favorite he could get really over. But turning Edge face would be the stupidest thing ever! Yeah take the best heel on your roster and make him a face? Yeah that wont work.

Edge = loved face OR loved heel. He's just charasmatic. Orton = hated face / acceptable heel. I didn't really like his "face" run with the title. His promos really haven't gotten any better since he first came to the Double Double E and your better faces at LEAST motivate the crowd through their promos or their wrestling.
Do a lot of restholds count? No, sir. Restholds = instant heel heat.

It's not that Orton is a bland heel, he's just doing the "I'm a jerk" gimmick and is teaming with someone who is also doing the "I'm a jerk" gimmick, and his gets canceled out. If he were more sadistic or did more dastardly things, he'd be a better heel.

Did anyone else see something like that happening? See, but this would have actually required some thought and imagination on the writers' part. It was MUCH easier to write "Despite some Edge interference, Lashley pins the Raw guy."

Especially with the added if Orton doesn't show up stipulation...

Seriously, I'd continue the Randy/Edge program for a while, with veeeeeery slowly turning Randy face until the fans actually warm up to him... with him warming up to being a face just as slowly as the face turn advances.

The reason that face Orton just may work this time is simple: Edge has quickly become a better heel than HHH. Because of this, it makes Orton easier to get behind, because Edge is just being a dick to Orton. There's a REASON for Orton to turn this time, and hopefully, the fans get behind it. He's not the Rock or Austin, sure...but maybe, just maybe...we'll be talking about someone being the next Orton. Who knows, if the guy goes face, maybe the chinlocks will go, too.
