TNA:
With TNT’s coverage of the NBA Playoffs dominating the hour, the twenty-second Primetime airing of TNA Impact fell short of its key demo averages.
Airing on Thursday 4/26 from 9-10p, the telecast averaged a .98 HH rating, with a .77 in M18-49, a .79 in M18-34, a 1.06 in M25-34 and an average audience of 1.3 million viewers.
TNA
.97 .95 1.04 .95
Gerweck.net
No. No it didn't.
I like how the story blames basketball.

Yep it was the basketball.
OR....
Their fans are smart enough to know that a non-PPV dream match in TNA means 3 minutes and twice as many run ins.

When did ratings get so complex? What happened to "TNA got a 1.0, down from last week's 1.1"?

This is the middle of the first round of NBA basketball, not the NFL, March Madness or the freaking Superbowl.

The ratings for the Finals are usually really big, but some playoff games end up with the same rating or less than Raw does today. College Basketball in the tournament draws great numbers. NBA not so much.

NBA not so much. Plus the College tourney is a "do-or-die" game, the pros is a "Best-of-X" game. Hang on... The game that aired opposite to IMPACT! is Game 3 of the Pistons-Magic series on TNT. Somehow, I doubt this had an impact on IMPACT!'s rating.

Well, it explained WCW ratings when they went down during the NBA playoffs.

Well, at least they're steady. Despite my hatred for TNA's ongoing stupid decisions, I don't want them to go under. Even if the shows absolutely suck, it provides an alternative place for wrestlers to get a paycheck.

Like the "stars" aren't already well off, and everyone else couldn't get work elsewhere, like WWE, ROH, or Japan?

A first round playoff game should not effect it that much. Trust me.
TNA just doesn't have the people watching.

So what will TNA's paid youtube propaganda idiots Bill and Doug, try and attribute this lack of increase in the ratings of Impact this week to, since you know they have to ignore the real cause which is TNA themselves?

You know, I've been semi-indifferent to TNA in the past few months... then Lockdown came. Maybe it's just cause I was there, but the buildup to that PPV, and the stuff they've done in the past couple weeks since then, I think is the best they've ever been. Obviously huge matches like Sting/Angle and Sting/Christian on a normal weekly show, when there are a band of heels involved, aren't going to end cleanly. We've known that formula for 20+ years.
How to explain the lack of increase in viewership? I'm honestly stumped. The "average" wrestling fan probably knows that TNA exists, but has no real reason to care unless they get involved and start learning more of who's involved. Having a moment like Jarrett being Eric Young's friend (which surprised the hell out of the mark in me), that was cool and that's the kind of surprising stuff that will draw in viewers. People want to be shocked and surprised at things, and I think TNA is doing a better job of that lately.

Why aren't TNA's ratings going up? Because they're coming off as WWE, jr. It's basically coming off as watching an indy promotion that has some cash and a TV deal. "SEE YOUR FAVORITE FORMER WWE STARS AND SOME OTHER PEOPLE!"

I do believe the story was that TNA expected their highest ratings yet because of Sting/Angle.
I wonder how the morale is in the company after not only failing at that, but LOSING people from the week before.
Wrestling has to be a stressful business for the ones behind the curtain.

My gyess is, and this is just a guess, the guys who've been with TNA for quite a while, who can't et more than two minutes of air time despite, you know, having been there from the start, are probably pissed. Hell, Have we noticed that every time they sign someone, then like three TNA mainstays who got regular TV time get about 30 seconds combined per month? I say give them two more signings and, outside of Paparazzi Productions, we'll see nothing but former WWE/WCW guys.

Every nine months or so, release a trouble maker (Orton, Carlito) and TNA will be quick to grab them and pay more than they should or are able to. This will disturb all current storylines as new hirings have to be shoehorned into the main event...immediately. Eventually, the constant switches and swerves will cause old fans to have WCW 2000 memories and just stay away. Plan B? Thursday Night Heat. Also, people I talked to about Impact (I didn't get to see it because I worked on a college project) asked me if Samoa Joe was injuried. Nope. Just pushed to the side.
