A sort of tug o' war is developing between PRIDE FC and BodogFight, it
seems. MMAFighting.com is reporting that Fedor Emelianenko is stuck in MMA
limbo at the current time. Fedor defeated Matt Lindland this past weekend
at the BodogFight Pay-Per-View via first round armbar and the deal with
BodogFight apparently was only for that one fight. Calvin Ayre has told
sources that he wants to sign Fedor to a multi-fight deal, and so the tug
o' war begins.
Dana White made it clear at the UFC 70 conference call that Fedor was
still under contract with PRIDE, thus tied to the promotion. Fedor, on the
other hand, recently told CBS Sportsline that his contract with PRIDE was
"not officially completed", the report states, and therefore is not tied
down to any MMA promotion.
Dana White told those gathered at the conference on Tuesday that he
doesn't consider Fedor a free agent, insisting that the MMA great is still
a part of PRIDE FC. Dana White even went as far as to say that if Fedor
chooses to fight for another promotion outside of PRIDE FC that he would
fight the action, telling reporters that he would go as far as seek a
court injunction to prevent it.
Zuffa only allows it's fighters to fight for Zuffa controlled promotions,
such as the UFC, WEC, and WFA, by having them sign exclusive contracts.
PRIDE FC, under DSE, did not sign their fighters to exclusive contracts.
This issue will most certainly get uglier and more public as the May 1
date approaches and DSE hands over the reigns to PRIDE FC Worldwide.

"You won't fight for me, you won't fight for anyone!" is my take on Dana's claim.
Oh well...this should be interesting.
