- ECW on Sci Fi scored a 1.4 cable rating.
Gerweck.net
It was 1.5 last week. Perhaps the best wrestling show on TV (At least in my opinion) and its ratings are going down?
Makes no sense to me...

WWE presents ECW as "can miss TV," thus the low rating. Think about it, you can see ECW wrestlers and ECW title matches on the other shows, so why should fans watch ECW on Sci-Fi?
In addition, fans don't trust WWE to commit to the ECW brand. Every time fans get excited about ECW, WWE always lets them down. After the second One Night Stand, wrestling fans were very excited and optimistic. Then the first show came and all that excitement was replaced with disappointment. WWE went in to damage control and put effort into making the brand good. People were still let down by the lack of an ECW feel, but at least WWE seemed to be trying and there were some good up and coming stars on the brand. Then December to Dismember came. Again, fans were disgusted with WWE and ECW. Now smarks seem to be slowly warming up to the show again, but the casual fans have lost interest. Until WWE can have a consistently good show with a bright outlook for the future will the ratings improve.

So why watch on Teusdays? Plus ECW is basically seen by the company as a glorified developmental brand. Sadly this is true and actually is more entertaining than anything Raw has, ie-the flagship show.

I should mention that I don't watch ECW myself (or any WWE show), so if there has been any improvement then I haven't seen it. I'm just going off the reactions of others.

People didn't want to see Umaga vs Lashley again? SURPRISING! Maybe if they hyped the Originals vs NB feud half as much as the Vince vs Lashley stuff, people who don't normally watch could become interested in it.

Originals vs. New Breed > All other WWE storylines right now. The only downside is that there's no belt for them to fight over as part of it, but it almost doesn't need that.

Lashley is dead weight, and none of the many flotation devices around (Punk, RVD, whomever) are being reached for.

Even though ECW is probably one of the best booked shows right now, WWE still presents it as the C-show. That's why lots of people don't bother with it.

Well its kind of hard to watch ECW when its on a channel I don't get. You know Sci-Fi used to be on basic cable and then as I discovered how much I liked the channel they just took it away. Thanks.

For some reason all tv viewership is down right now. Look at the major network ratings lately. I am not sure why, but people just aren't watching as much TV in general. Within WWE, Raw's ratings have been down since WM and the ratings of Raw and ECW seem directly proportional to me.

the sad thing is now they are gonna inundate ECW with RAW cameos for the next 5 weeks, alll they need to do to get ratings up is put the belt on RVD and then bring back weekly extreme rules match .I bet a lot more people would tune in if they knew they were guaranteed and old fashioned ECW brawl every week.

Eh, I'm not too worried about a single week's aberration. It's still doing 0.4 higher than Impact does on an average week.

Pretty much, I tuned out when I saw Umaga hitting the ring for his match, honestly didn't care one bit and started watching again around the beginning of the 8-man tag match. That storyline is a lot more intriguing then most of the stuff on Raw or SD, IMO.

People want more, oh Mysterious One. You know, like on RAW. *Scheduled matches that don't take place because one wrestler trashes a hotel room. *Boring ass matches with predictable outcomes. *Divas stumbling around in the ring in skimpy outfits, breaking their well tanned limbs. If ECW can't achieve these things.... Well they could always move to USA, can't they?

i think its just too much hype for Lashley vs McMahons/Umaga. Thats the focus, and the rating signifies it. Its also the same matches every week. it follows a format. Lashley does something for his feud (boring match or boring promo). Snitsky squashes somebody, and the originals take on the new breed in a variation of a tag match. I personally feel its too predictable, and follows too much a formula. People want new and exciting, not the same thing every week.

ECW really has nothing to look forward to. There's no tag titles, no mid card title. There's one belt. Unless someone is fighting for that belt the match seems pointless. Like why are there so many tag matches if there is no tag belt?

Right now the show has a definite format, which would almost be fine, but week in and week out we just keep getting the same couple variations of match-ups between New Breed and Originals. I like the NB/Originals angle, but it's mostly because of the guys involved and not because of the way it's booked. Like I mentioned, the two factions just fight each other in different combos every week and they just keep trading wins back and forth. Why not have more backstage interactions or add some other dimension to it? Maybe have the members of each faction fight other guys other than those in the opposing faction and have run-ins or something. They need to switch something up soon (and to be fair, the Punk angle has spiced it up, but that's pretty much irrelevant to the Originals feud) because the feud is starting to get a bit trite in my opinion.
