I was thinking about this and I feel many great wrestlers in the eighties were deserving of being WWF Champion but weren't because of the massive reign of Hogan. So which of these wrestlers or pick one of your own should have been WWF Champion?

what, no British Bulldog?
I say both Ricky Steamboat and DiBiase.....
but I vote for The Million Dollar Man, because he never event get to wear the top NWA belt.

I know he had it once, but I say Kane most DEFINITELY deserves to have it at least once more before he's over.
...in hindsight since we're talking about the 80s, the guy I voted for was in fact DeBiase.

I think fans would have loved to see Hogan chase the evil WWF Champion Ted Dibiase back in the day. So i vote for the Million Dollar Man

Bulldog wasn't really a singles star yet in the 1980's. If we were talking 1990's, then I would throw Bulldog into the mix. I'll say... *flips coin* Jake Roberts.

Wasn't it the Honkey Tonk Man's fault Dibiase was never champ? The whole thing about him not wanting to drop the IC title to Savage, leading to the Macho Man getting the world title instead of Ted?

This man: Ditto. Although i agree with whoever said it on the piper dvd that he was so great he didn't need the title.

None of those guys should have won the world title during Hogan's run, and that doesn't take anything away from their careers. Although, I do agree that Hogan chasing Dibiase had potential.
Man, it sickens me nowadays when a wrestler debuts and people are already putting the world title on him within a certain time frame. Back in the '80's, titles actually meant something, so they weren't passed around like cookies in pre-school.
Honestly, the fact that I remember these guys fondly (Piper, Jake, Dibiase, etc) despite the fact that they were never given a WWF title run is a testament to how great they are/were.

Piper and DiBiase would have brought a bit of variety in the, very successful anyway, Hulkapalooza that was the 85-89 WWF. (I know Savage was Champ in 88 but as soon as Hogan "claimed" his belt back, he got it).
Both men were good enough at promos to go toe-to-toe with Hogan, and could deliver a good match with him, so having the Hero chasing his Nemesis would have been both entertaining and interesting.

Dibiase should have gotten the belt. Maybe they should have let Andre give Ted the belt, or have a match like they did about a decade later with HBK/HHH in the "match" for the European Championship.

i always thought jake roberts was the biggest missed opputunity in the history of wrestling. granted, it was partially his fault, but the guy would have been a legendary champ, as big as hogan IMO........except y'know, heel.
i would also like to cast a vote for piper.
