Very much so. Like others have mentioned, remove Lashley and you've got the best wrestling show on TV, for my money. Well, true. I just hate that all the useless guys in the WWE have been put on ECW. It had potential, but when Matt Striker, among others, showed up it lost all chances.

This isn't just for you, but for anyone really. What is the definition of "smark bait." Just wondering. I see it thrown around a lot. Glad you asked. As the person that coined the term, I'll be happy to give you the official definition. Smark bait is wrestling news that is intentionally designed to rile up smarks. Many "newz" sites do this to get more readers. (Basically, if fans are emotional then they'll follow stories more.) Often the news is completely made up or highly exagerrated.

Does anyone like the new ECW? I mean, besides Vince... No matter how bad something is there will always be people that like it. This is true for anything.

I'd like to know how you know this! Please tell me about all the research and etc. that lead to this revelation, as "Sometimes news stories posted on the net arent correct" doesnt really lead to the whole "news sites make stuff up on purpose" theory. I don't doubt it happens, rarely, but it seems like youre just ... making something up. News just in: sometimes 3rd or 4th hand information isnt totally accurate! more at 11

I didn't read the whole thread, lol. But I want to say something about smark bait. I think the term came up when people started to finally realize that not everyone on the net that is reported is true, and that somethings may even be done to get after smarks and get their attention. It came up I think when rumours about CM Punk being buried got started up, and weeks after they started, Punk kept on his winning ways. The best way to go about internet rumours is basically go off already stated information and think about whether or not this could be true, and all the possibilities. Use lots of critical thinking.
Anyway, about that promo. It was a fan report, so it maybe true there. I think it may not have been a shoot to be quite honest. I feel that RVD may've been told to say that to see what kind of reaction it would get, and the positive ECW reaction that it got, and everyone agreeing about the product might give an indictation of what's going on.
Bobby Lashley is basically being given the ECW belt so that he could have a title and look more impressive, when really, it seems like he's not apart of ECW at all.

Carlito complains about his spot = nuclear heat.
RVD complains about his spot = frenzied contract negotiations.

It's probably true. If you go to his official website robvandam.com, at the bottom of his newest commentary he flatly says "This new ECW crap sucks".

I've seen you claim you came up with the term "smark bait" many times, i also saw the term brought up many times over at wrestlingtalks.com between '00 - '02. So did you come up with it, or just make it "popular" at WC? Honestly just curious, it'd be cool to see some former W/T's over here.

Smark bait=everything you read on any news site period is fake. Period. Unless it refers to an IWC pariah having some kind of heat. Then it's real. But that's it.
EDIT: The above is not the original intended definition, but that's essentially what smark bait has become.

I don't doubt it happens, rarely, but it seems like youre just ... making something up. Depends on the situation. Some stories are easy to spot as fake because they're completely irrational or too convenient. Others aren't so easy. Most of the time it seems rather obvious, though.

Anyway, I'd never heard "smark bait" used before on any other board. I just thought it was a convenient way to describe stories I had observed a lot. It seemed like the many newz sites were baiting fans with stories obviously (and later confirmed to be) made up. Basically, I created it at WC. I'm not sure if others used it in the past and then stopped for a long time, but it's certainly possible. I mean, the term itself is a simple one to come up with. The newz sites bait fans, who are smarks. It's pretty simple stuff. The only real reason I have it in my custom title is because I like memes. I do think sometimes people misuse it, though. Hell, it was originally meant (at least by me) to be funny. Now it's "serious business," which is funny in its own way. Incidentally, I coined "anti-smark" at The Smart Marks forum (not that it really matters).

But would TNA be interested in taking them though? Probably. TNA has been kicking Test's name around for goodness sakes. TNA sucks.

How many people would watch TNA just for the always flat TEST?
Same amount of people that still think Dubya is a good President.....Zero.

Very much so. Like others have mentioned, remove Lashley and you've got the best wrestling show on TV, for my money. As a former 90's Ecw fan I can honestly say that this version of Ecw is as good as the old, just different, which isnt a bad thing.
