The whole thing with Cena made me think about this. Say Bruno Sammartino from the early 1960's was transplanted from than to now and was not a legend as he is now, would he get booed the shit out of him as boring champions like Cena, Lashley and Batista are or would he be cheered as he was back than.

Not very comparable. We see Cena 5-10 times a month. Way more exposure.
