The in-ring promo Bobby Lashley did on the 12/19 ECW show, which did him no favors, is another example of rushing talent. Lashley, from a promo standpoint, is nowhere close to being ready for a main event spot. One person in the middle of all this said, "Bobby is another casualty of the preposterous expectations that creative has in terms of workers. He doesn't have experience or confidence in his own promos yet, yet he's in the top slot. Way too premature. Then again, most decisions these days are becoming increasingly impulsive.

Why have him give promos?
Just have him go out and kick ass.

Still doesn't matter, the guy is big, so even if he flubs up his words, he's not going anywhere. Plus the guy is over to an extent with fans.

I was actually starting to like Lashley in his midcard spot on Smackdown. But of course creative finds a way to mess things up. He was getting one of the bigger reactions on Smackdown sure but that dosent mean you jump him to main event status right away. you let it build until the people really want to see him there.

Lesnar didn't have to cut promo's until his 3rd run or something.
It sickens me that the 3 champs in WWE are bodybuilders with Wrestling talents, Cena is OK when you compare him to Lashley & Batista

Uh, Lashley is actually a very accomplished amateur wrestler. He was never really a bodybuilder.

And this is why the WWE won't improve as a product any time soon; so long as they have the same people running Creative, expect these trends to continue ad infinitum.

I too was liking Lashley in his position on Smackdown. But carrying a brand on his back? He's no where near ready for that in any stretch of the imagination. I have trouble believing people at home are going "Lashley is teh champ?! I have to watch this show!". Of course some will, there are always some, but a large amount? Meh.

They used to give guys like Lashley managers to help them with promos. Now they expect these guys to do it all. Lashley could become a great wrestler. He has all the natural talent, but they took him away from where he was comfortable and put a ton of pressure on him.

Lashley should be a silent monster like face.
Instead of cutting a promo to set up Rene DuPree insulting soldiers for quick heat, why not have DuPree come out and babble about being the most extreme wrestler in ECW. This cues Champion Lashley to come out and squash him.
If they had, HAD, to make him talk, he could just hold the belt up and challenge all comers.

They should've went along with heyman's idea of turning him heel.
If he's gonna be face, he should just whoop ass. Goldberg style

Lashley flat out is not ready to do promos. I'll never forget when he said, "Finlay...you're a...bastard."

Lashley flat out is not ready to do promos. I'll never forget when he said, "Finlay...you're a...bastard." The worst thing he could ever say in that ECW promo of his was "Holy Cow", especially because he said it in the whitest voice I have ever heard before in my life. Seriously how can you fear someone with a voice like that? When he started speaking, it reminded me of SDvRaw 2006 in CAW mode where you could give your character a pre-made voice, and I'd give a 5'5 cruiserweight the voice of f'n Shaft. It just doesn't fit him at all.

It's his voice that's the problem. He sounds like a little girl.
