I don't believe it's a "shot," but using the phrase "not your average Joe" is so ridiculously stale and ineffective in this context. I'll chalk it up to uninspired writing, personally. Eh... I think we can all agree that while it's not a "shot" of any kind, it's certainly a reference or a wink. I mean, there is NO reason to use a "Joe" when describing the character of Umaga, agreed? Right, in fact I sorta...posted before completing my thoughts. I see it as, as you put it, a wink, but I still think it's poorly done. We're talking about the "10 Wildest Superstars" ever, and we're on day nine! Of course there are no "Average Joes" on the damn list.

I heard there was a 50% chance that Samoa Joe would end up in the wwe. But there is only a 10% shot of that being true.

It'd be better if they said "He's not your average Kurt Angle"

if vince wanted to take a shot at joe, he wouldnt be that subtle. subtlety isnt vince's thing. dressing up as samoa joe and making jokes about how joe has got giant manboobs, now THAT'S the mcmahon way!

Could be a coincidence. WWE doesn't really give a shit about TNA, and neither do they have to. If it is true, it was probably done by some mark on the website staff.

Sounds to me like it's not a shot, or they know full well they can have a sly dig and cover their asses if anyone noticed, like now.

Eh, they were on good terms with ROH a while ago, perhaps this is that sort of friendly rib between partners sort of thing, considering Joe was one of ROH's best. I can't see anything malicious that would be meant by this, and I can't imagine Samoa Joe doing anything other than laughing at it, or going "hey, cool", or not even noticing at all.

I like Vince and companies logic on things.
"Lance is agreat wrestler, so let's convince people he's boring!" "Molly Holly is pretty good, so how can we get her over? Let's say she has a big ass!" "We can't hire Samoa Joe, he's fat (which he isn't really, since he's healthy and athletic)! Oh 'hi' there Mark Henry/Umaga!" "

Wrestling ObserverThere is a section on WWE.com listing the 10 wildest stars ever in history, and Umaga comes in at number two. WWE seems to be taking a dig at TNA wrestler Samoa Joe with the following line in Umaga's description: "Hailing from the Isle of Samoa, WWE.com's No. 2 Wildest Superstar is far from any average Joe; he’s a savage of the highest order. His power is fierce, his fury explosive. Reasoning with him is useless." I personally think they're reading into it too much, but that's just me. Heck, they prevented Lesnar from going there. Lesnar would definitely get killed in TNA or ROH, since, from the fans' perspective, he basically crapped all over the pro wrestling business. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Brock Lesnar is the David Caruso (post-NYPD Blue) of pro wrestling. Back on topic. as for Cena's dig on Christopher Daniels, it's important to note that Cena is friends with Daniels and Samoa Joe.

This is almost as bad as when they said Cena took a shot at Christopher Daniels by calling Howie Mandel "the Angel that falls" or whatever it was. Yeah, but that actually sounds like a shot. What the hell does Howie Mandel have to do with angels? At least the Average Joe thing is a common colloquialism.

The capitalization of Joe gives the wink-wink away, but anyone who's seen at least half of one Billionaire Ted segment should realize that it's nothing more than a wink and isn't much of an attempt to take Joe or TNA "down a notch".
