Maybe its a work all the way through, and we are in line for more of this type of stuff. Droz could've gotten paid $200,000 behind the scenes to keep it quiet and act like he's pissed. This would build Steph's heel to a higher level for when she returns to tv. I wouldn't put it passed them. They see all these smarks that only react by complaining because they know how it all works. So how does the WWE stop this and maintain the same presentation as before? Play into what they will react to. Just a thought. Considering that that would be something more for the smarks, and they don't care that much for the smarks, I don't see that. I think if they could trick the smarks into getting all upset over something that wasn't real, they could re-established themselves a little better. they've got to start looking into ways as to why the product isn't getting any better etc, and its because of the internet revolution. so their product has to change along with it. and i think feeding (or secretly owning) all the dirtsheets would be a way to create fan innocence that doesn't exist as much anymore.

Well, if this is true, then I see A LOT of wrestlers getting pissed. It seemed like Droz was friends with almost everyone in the company--JBL, Triple H, ect. Not to mention that there are reports that HHH is just as close to Droz as he is to HBK. I still am baffled he'd let her fire Droz, let alone considering doing so. If she did, I'd expect a MAJOR backlash from JBL and HHH until Droz is rehired.

Welcome to WWE, where you're only as useful as the $$$ you bring in and the asses you kiss. Shame on them. Loyalty is dead and buried. Welcome to the real world in general.

WWE does not even know smarks exist, so I doubt that was the case.

If this is true, this is one of the worst things that Steph or anybody in any company could do. Droz put his career and livelyhood on the line and litterally got crippled because of it and so at first they do the right thing and keep him on the payroll because he is a valueable asset but then after 8 years they figure "hey he should be set for life" without any regard to what a quadropalegic(sp?) has to go through financially and emotionally? I am sorry but that's f***ed up and immoral from any point of view. Seriously when Vince dies...Were f***ed.

Im still not happy about this or anything and think it was a horrible decision if true.
But honestly, the guy might really be set for life. I know living expenses are high for him, but you have to remember that before the 9 or so years he was in WWE, he played in the NFL.
Even if he was making league minimum in the NFL, he was still being paid pretty well back then. So he's had a pretty good income between pro wrestling and pro football for the past 15 years. Plus, im sure up until now, all his medical expenses have PROBABLY been taken care of by WWE.
Still, this is a horrible horrible move by Steph no matter what.

NFL money, especially the minimum, won't last that long if you've got big time medical bills. Unless your name is Tom Brady or something NFL money is only a cushion.

this is worse than when boogeyman got fired for 'not applying himself and not being in shape" nevermind the fact he's at least 10 years older than trips and is in better shape. That's a little far. Saying that Boogeyman is in better shape than Triple H is simply ridiculous. Also, he's only 5 years older.

Even if he's "set for life" it's still pretty crushing, I mean, a guy's got to have a feeling of purpose in his life, what's he supposed to do now?

If this is true, I'm going to take the other side of the coin.
Droz competed for the WWE for what, a little over a year? Did he ever draw a single dime? I highly doubt it.
That being said, it was a stand-up move on the WWE's part to keep him employed as long as they did. We've all read horror stories of guys being hurt in the indies, and usually those are taken care of by the occasional benefit show, but they're never employed for life by the company they got hurt in. WWE did keep this guy on the payroll, something they didn't have to do. They saw that there was nothing really there for him and did what they had to do, I can't blame them for a second. The WWE can only take so much responsibility for what happens in their rings and on their TV shows, and personally I feel like they have done all they can for Droz.
EDIT: And seriously, is this all you guys think Droz can do? What, with all the different companies set up to help people of all disabilities find a way of life, do you really think he's screwed? Speaking engagements can pay pretty damn well.

I certainly don't think they should pay the guy for nothing, but they should have just given him a different job within the company.

I really don't understand why Vince doesn't make an executive decision here and inform Droz that he's not fired, and tell Steph that he's off-limits. This is why family and business do not a good match make. Willywonka666, you're right, Vince Sr. would never have allowed this to happen.

You all seem to forget that it's a company. They don't "have" to do anything.
As bigHEADinc said, honestly it was nice enough of them to keep him employed as long as they did, considering that while he was doing his primary role as a wrestler, he was hardly anything phenomenal.

as a wrestling fan and as a guy that spent 6 months in a wheelchair myself, this is unthinkable. It kind of makes me feel that we as fans are powerless. I always thought that Pro wrestling was the ultimate spectator sport. Everything that we see, aside from accidents, is designed for specifically for the fans entertainment. When somebody with power in this business comes up with the idea "Hey! Let's fire the paralyzed guy! He ain't makin' us money!". That person full well knows that every wrestling fan weather they have an internet connection or not, is eventually going hear about this. And what was that person's responce? "WHO GIVES A f***? I can do ANYTHING, ANTHING I want in this company!" Why? Because no matter what horrible deed is done in real life, is next monday nights ratings going to drop a tenth of point? No! Come monday night, everything will be exactly the same. No matter how much rage is generated among the people who care, nothing can be done. That's very depressing.

Speaking engagements can pay pretty damn well. But there are far more useless people employed by them. And you don't tell a guy he will have money for life and a job for life then decide to fire him. If they never intended to keep him, then don't make that promise. He WAS doing work for them, like writing and what not. It's not like he came in and sat around for hours on end every day and was paid to do nothing.
