The idea that they're postponing something because of an event they actually planned is hilarious to me.
They're really committed to this.

Translation: We have absolutely no idea what were doing right now and the writers need more time to come up with dumb ideas.

Anyone else notice the "Fart Button" that was on that page? It seemed very ironic

I think this also helps out the fact that the draft was to take place between the time Smackdown was filmed and when it was shown. Now they don't have to worry about Spoilers or making Smackdown look behind

no this makes sense. Because if they did it wednesday, SD would be the first that would have it. And having SD first that means that we would have found out tonight with spoilers

Hmmmm.
I have to wonder, if this was a decision made at a creative meeting this morning when the final steps were taken towards the SmackDown card for tonight ("You know guys, we might have a problem...") or if it was always planned that it would be postponed due to the "shocking" events.
Either way, someone was actually on the ball. The more "real" the WWE.com makes the actual death, the more it can carry weight on future shows. So far, my favorite touch is the flag at half-mast.
