People need to stop taking it all so seriously. We watch fully grown roid feinds pretend to beat each other up while wearing speedo's. How the hell can ANYONE take this so seriously? People are dorks? Just a guess...

I don't see that. That's an awful long way to go just to further dig at Eddie isn't it? Not exactly current events either although Vickie is still around. I think he was just trying to shake things up a bit. At this point in time he can either do something lame, something brilliant, or something meh. The choice is entirely up to him. Hey, it's a stretch, I realize, but I can definitely see it happening. Absolutely nothing the WWE does surprises me in terms of how lowbrow it can get, and it would not surprise me in the least if this whole thing led to another round of Eddiesplotation. As for brilliance, there is absolutely no way this will lead to any good storylines. Yes, my user name may be "explodinglimo," but it's to emphasize the fact that this thing was Wrestlecrap from the exact moment it happened, despite the shock and surprise of it.

It sounds like you should find something else to do instead.

They should really approach this as if Vince is no more. Cancel WWE short term. Get the word out there. Something. Swerve the world. But since you can't safely do all that it comes across dumb. But it has opened creativity doors.

It sounds like you should find something else to do instead. I love this hobby. I *love* professional wrestling. And since WWE runs five hours of first-run programming a week in the professional wrestling field, I watch it. I love watching certain guys work their asses off. And I love the storylines and feuds. The New Breed-Originals-CM Punk storyline has kept me glued to ECW since the beginning of the year. John Cena's feuds with both Umaga and The Great Khali were both enthralling despite the fact that I thought Cena should lose to make it less predictable. That said, there is absolutely no way this storyline will end well. There's optimism and then there's fooling yourself. Yes, the initial shock of the limo explosion was enthralling. It's all going to be downhill from there though. And if I'm wrong and it turns out to be the angle that saves wrestling or even if it ends well, I'll swallow my pride and apologize here for being such a pessimist.

Now, I don't think for a second that he's never coming back. So I don't think it'll work.

Look, maybe this story won't lead to anything cool. I don't understand why people can't just wait and see. A lot of people are. They gave us a cliffhanger ending, which is something they don't often do.
I almost feel like people deserve for this to end up being a crappy story, just for being so negative in the first place.

I didn't see this happen, but going by what I've read, I'm not offended (well, I AM offended at the fake ten bell salute. That's awful) in a "my principles have been violated!" way, but I am shocked at just how much those writers look down on their audience.
Nobody is going to believe Vince McMahon is dead. For all the talk here of "It's a TV show, it's the same as Lost or Sopranos!", you're making an absolutely baseless claim that has never, ever been shown to be true in the decades upon decades that wrestling has been on television.
Wrestling was always supposed to come across as "real". Even in the days of Rock n' Wrestling, wrestlers who went on talk shows were STILL expected to remain in character, still expected to portray who the writers/bookers wanted them to portray. For the past 50 years, wrestling has presented itself as utterly different from anything presented on TV, and to deny that is to deny the entirety of broadcast wrestling history.
Are the wrestlers "just playing characters"? Yes, of course. But if it's "just like any other show", fine; let them go play other characters on other shows, then. Let them get full time movie careers. Let them join the Screen Actors' Guild.
Face it, wrestling is nothing like Lost, Sopranos, 24, or any show you want to put in here. Those shows don't include crowd interaction, the actors' don't "stay in character" during interviews and press conferences, and not all of those shows revolve around the idea that people are putting their bodies and well being on the line every time they show up on screen. Keifer Sutherland doesn't go around signing his autographs "To Billy, from Jack Bauer", and James Gandolfini doesn't have to suddenly start speaking in a goomba accent if he has an interview on Entertainment Tonight. Neither of them have to "do their own stunts" and risk serious injury on the sets of their shows, either...and even if some freak accident did happen, and they were hurt, they've got union backing to help them! Wrestlers don't!
So stop this baseless, misleading argument. I will not argue for a second that wrestling is totally realistic, but I certainly WILL argue that it's absolutely nothing like "regular TV shows", outside of there being characters and story lines. That's basically where the similarities end.
Tell you what: it can start being "just like any TV show" when JR stops calling it like it's a sporting event.
So, yeah...not offended that they "killed" Vince, not offended for Eddie's sake...just offended at how creatively bankrupt these idiots working for Vince really seem to be.
Also, yeah...don't expect a single quality match to come from this angle. We didn't get any good matches when Sid got run over on WCW, and I highly doubt we're getting one here.

People seem to forget that WWE is a television show. As I've illustrated, no. It isn't. Murder she wrote is a TV show. RAW is (whether Vinny Mac admits it or not) Professional Wrestling. Professional Wrestling, under his sanction, just happens to be on TV. It's how they get their product into your home, so that you will buy tickets to their events, PPV's, and merchandise. Wrestling isn't a show that can just be cancelled on the whim of some network director. Professional wrestling will continue to exist beyond the scope of the WWE, or it's lucrative television deal. Just ask Eric Bischoff and Dixie Carter. It's different from other things on TV. Bottom line. That's why the fanbase likes it. It provides an alternative to the crap that network executives think you should like. And here, yet instead, Vince McMahon hires Hollywood writers to 'compete' with the very shows you're already tuning out in order to sit down and watch his product. Does that make any flippin' sense? When you cancell Murder She Wrote, Angela Lansbury isn't going to come to your school gymnasium and offer to solve imaginary murder mysteries so she can write fictional books based on the events you describe to her. Murder She Wrote is a TV show. Raw is not. I really want you kids to learn the difference before it's too late entirely to save the product. If it's just a TV show, why is there even a ring and a crowd? Let's just eliminate them altogether, buy a laugh track, and produce our own wrestling show. Think, you guys!

You and I often agree, but IMO you couldn't be more wrong. Remember the storyline where Eddie was actually the father of Rey's son? It was a ridiculously stupid story that ended with a show stealing ladder match between Rey and Eddie.

That being an exception to the rule. Look at who was in the angle to begin with. We're not talking about Rey and Eddie. We're talking about Vince freakin' McMahon. The guy isn't a wrestler.
If Vince McMahon can have a 5 star match after this particular excusrsion, then you'll have the satisfaction of making me eat my words under that pretense alone (I still will never concede that this should never have happened, and that it hurts business in the long run rather than helps it).
But you'll never catch me comparing wrestling to a TV show. And, if your prediction comes true, at least you'll be able to brag on your cyber-pals that I was wrong and you were right - the big payoff match from the Vince McMahon limo explosion between Vince McMahon and God was a 5 star classic, rivaling that of the Flair/Steamboat series years back.
But I'm so sure that this won't lead to anything significant in-ring-wise, I'm willing to put my house AND my yearly salary up on the line that says so.
I, unlike some of you guys, are getting tired of being burned by the WWE Creative team, when IMO, booking 6 months of creative, interesting wrestling is the easiest thing in the whole world. Person A doesn't like person B because of this-that, and the other, and now they're going to settle their diferences in the ring. I don't need to give them umpteen several thousand chances; to give this angle a chance, because given who it is we're talking about, nothing good can come of it. Nobody else can possibly benefit from this, except Vince McMahon.

Well, it seemed like people who hated "Eddiesplotation" loved Vince dying, but are you disgusted by it yet? I was from the beginning, faking death is not acceptable. This is really low. Not only stupid, but disrespectful. Moreso than Eddiesplotation. And if you can't see that then I assume that you just have some kind of bias, since Eddie was an IWC God, and Vince is the Devil of the IWC. This is Vince McMahon. He has himself given a ten bell salute and he's only fake dead when that's supposed to be given as a sign of honor to those that REALLY passed. As long as it entertains him, he doesn't care. What a f**king joke.

True, but I don't see anyone remotely involved that could get in a quality match stemming from this particular angle. I see lots of promos being cut, lots of backstage segments, but I can't foresee any sort of match that people will go "Holy crap" over. I'm not saying it'll be bad, just that I can't see any matches that could derive from this, unlike Rey/Eddie which had 2 great workers going at it, even if the storyline was pure crap,IMO.

You want me to be disgusted? Show me a six smurfing side wrestling ring. Yes, because hexagons are more offensive than faking a death and trying to elicit false sympathy, and then insulting the crowd through your announcers because the crowd refuses to have this crap shoved down their throat. EDIT: and for the record, I hate TNA, but it's not for the damn six sided ring.

The most offensive thing about it is that it insults (y)our intelligence. The fans in Philly last night knew it was bullshit. You and I know it's bullshit. And yet, here's Vince, trying to pass off what he did as entertainment, when death, as it were, is a pretty 'final' thing.
No matches can possibly result from this.
And if they do, they won't be very good, just by sheer nature of the angle.
When Vince comes "back to life", it's going to be worse than anything you've seen on Days of Our Lives.
The ten bell salute was a slap in the face to every performer who's ever laced up a pair of boots and stepped inside the ring. The angle is insulting, and poorly written.
And the more I think about it, the madder I get. Not that Vince actually thought this was a good idea - but that he has some of you so conditioned to 'Sports Entertainment', that you don't know the difference, and are willing to let it slide because you want to see what happens next instead of watching a great match.
Truth be told, I don't blame any of you for that. You don't know any better.
I blame Vince. He's single handedly ruined professional wrestling.
