Do you guys remember when Al Snow was Lance Cassidy (or something like that...) and he was booked to kick and throw Marty Jannetty through a glass window ala the original Rocker split...take on a HBK gimmick and then feud with a returning HBK...there blow off was supposed to be at a Mania...
anyone remember this...I can't remember the whole story and was wondering if anyone does...
This was supposed to make Snow a star but never happened...
anyone know why?

Didn't Al go back to ECW around this time and come back to the WWF with the 'crazy' gimmick?

Never heard anything about this Swarm but it seems interesting. Gary Micheal Cappeta talked about it once a few years back at a convention I was at...Al was supposed to go bonkers...dye his hair blonde and basically act and be as if he were HBK...a returning HBK was to come back and thier feud was supposed to come to a conclusion at Mania... the point was to make Al a star and it never happened...GMC didn't know why I thought maybe someone here might... I think it would have been cool...

Didn't Al go back to ECW around this time and come back to the WWF with the 'crazy' gimmick? Yes, this was when ECW & the WWF was exchanging talent. Heyman would give Vince big stars to borrow (Lawler/RVD/etc.) and Vince would give back projects to work with (Al Snow/Brakkus); some worked out and some didn't.

Yeah, poor Al Snow, he never won the 12 World Titles Brakkus did I think this HBK/Snow angle coulda been awesome, or at least would've created some great matches.

Lawler was part of the latter category, not the former. He went to ECW during the summer of 1997 as part of a talent exchange angle but he never really worker for ECW.

I do remember them talking about doing this.....around this time the New Rockers were heelish good guys..........Snow was basically acting like a jerk and all and always had a stupid smile on his face and would rock his head back and forth like a rock star......Yea to bad the angle never was used but I guess they assumed the JOB SQUAD was a better storyline

Would I have enjoyed this? Yes.
Do I think it was ever actually planned? Umm ...
It's very possible they planned to give Snow an HBK knockoff gimmick, but the rest of the story (involving Michaels) just doesn't add up at all.
Snow's period with the New Rockers began in February '96. Assuming his turn on Jannetty happened in the summer/fall of '96, the Wrestlemania match vs. Michaels would have been at WM13 in March '97. The working idea for nearly a year before WM13 was that Michaels would have a rematch with Bret at that show. And even without a Bret-Michaels match, there were about a half-dozen other established guys (Sid, Austin, Undertaker, Vader, Mankind, etc.) who would have been paired with Shawn at WM13 before they gave that spot to a relatively new Snow/Cassidy.
One other thing: I'm not sure what "a returning HBK" means. From WM12 to February '97, he was only gone for the period between Survivor Series and the Rumble, when he was wholly immersed in a hot feud with Sid and wouldn't have been free to feud with Snow anyway.
I suppose it's possible they were already thinking ahead to HBK/Snow at the NEXT Wrestlemania, but most of the WWF's booking was being done on short notice by 1997, so it seems very unlikely. Plus, you're probably asking for trouble if you plan any angle involving Marty Jannetty more than a month ahead of time. He was already gone before the end of '96.
I question Gary Michael Cappetta's insight on this one, given how he wasn't ever in the WWF. Maybe he got the story wrong from someone else.

So the New Rockers were heels, Marty goes through the window again, Leif becomes an HBK knockoff and feuds with the face HBK, would that have made Marty a face again?
The night dissent was first teased, the New Rockers lost to Pierroth and Cibernetico, and got into a shoving match. Marty hurt his ankle that night, and was never seen on TV again until Angle brought him back in 05.

Yeah, there's no way he would've known that info unless he still had contacts there. But, why would they tell him such obscure info about Al Snow?

Marty was seen on TV frequently between 1996 and 2005. He was a regular in WCW in 1998.
His finisher, for the guy asking on the first page, is called the Showstopper or the Rocker Dropper. It's basically the same as Billy Gunn's Fame-ass-er, but he hooks the arm. He does the Crescent Kick alot too, which Shawn makes much better use of as Sweet Chin Music. Basically, he's done his best to stay in the the glare from Shawm Michael's limelight, by reminding people as much as he can that they used to be a tag team.
Marty Jannetty is one of my favorite wrestlers, and always has been, since I first saw him in 1988. If he goes against Shawn, he's always the face as far as I'm concerened, and Shawn is always the heel. Someone talked about how Marty was the heel against Shawn in 1996(I missed this), and said something about how we're not supposed to remember the Barbershop Window anymore. I'll never forget. I don't know why we're supposed to. It saddens me to think that wrestling history is supposed to be ignored.

Al Snow has been my favorite since I was a kid. I don't know why I just think he is brilliant. He always put 100% into what he does and always makes things work. It is a shame he never really got to break into the main event because he could have been a big star.
