If Matt Hardy still hasn't had a credible singles title within the next 6-8 months, I'm giving up on the WWE. Even a US Title feud with MVP would be entertaining. But obviously the potential of Edge vs. Matt, with the history between them and the legitimate heat that must still be lingering, WWE could get a lot out of a feud between them.
Like I said in another thread, if Edge keeps the title this Sunday, opens Smackdown with "The Cutting Edge", and Matt Hardy's music hits and interrupts the show, I'm marking like there's no tomorrow.

Matt Hardy has everything to be a main eventer. He can wrestle. He can talk (some of his promos recently haven't been the best, but a lot of his V1 stuff showed his speaking ability). He has charisma. He's in good shape. All ages and sexes seem to like him. He can get the crowd into all his matches. He has it all to be the next big thing in wrestlig. But the V1 stuff was years ago. I think he's great worker, very dedicated, but unless you're a "hoss" or Vince loves ya, you get no championship gold.

Considering that the Hardys were on the company magazine COVER recently, it seems that WWE has noticed their insane reception at house shows (including the one I went to months back where they got better crowd pop than Cena) and on TV tapings, and will take financial advantage of it.
If Edge retains and such that Batista can't win the belt, until Edge is dethroned, then on SD! next week, Edge is hyping up of how great he is, how he chased Mr. Kennedy away from SD! and beat him literally into monday night, how he toppled Undertaker with a "clean" pin, how he humiliated Chris Benoit into being drafted onto ECW....
Nobody on SD! can beat him, and Batista will never get another shot at his title sinec there is NOBODY left to fight of his caliber...
*Cue Matt Hardy's music* The crowd goes nuts.
Think if Matt Hardy did pin Edge for the belt, it would open up more programs to work with for the next few weeks. Jeff Hardy can get sissy and complain that his brother won't give him a belt shot, and they split over it.....Batista, freed of the Edge contract condition, wants a shot at the belt....Ric Flair wants to profile another title reign for the last time....Kane wants revenge on Edge for bloodying his brother up...
Oh, and Undertaker returns by Christmas....

I have always wanted Matt Hardy to hold the strap and didn't believe he would ever get a shot. But, Im finally starting to feel that way after last night. On an show that is taped, they showed 3 different Matt for next champion signs. They dont do that with anybody else that isnt in the main event. So maybe at Summerslam, Matt finally gets the last laugh with Edge.

He's never even been giving a Mid-Card Title. He is so over but it seems the WWE just run with it & would rather give everything to Jeff. Agreed, even when Matt was basically a jobber, he still got huge pops, still nothing. Like a week after Jeff was rehired, after being fired mind you, they gave him the IC strap. I don't get it.

Matt deserves it. Give Batista's spot to him.
And don't give it back to him no matter how much he needs it.

Plus, Smackdown has almost no main eventers. It's like Edge and Batista and . . . no-one else. Realistically speaking, he's one of the few who could step up and carry the brand after its disastrous draft. He even has a good inlet with his history with edge. Come on E.

I'm not sure it will actually happen for Matt, but the champ signs did get on tv.

I kind of felt Matt was starting to break through recently at the battle royal. He was the last one eliminated! That's basically unheard of from a midcarder. Not to mention JBL builds Matt up every week. It only makes sense to give him a good push.
That being said, we'll never see it happen. We'll never see Edge v. Matt for the belt. As much as it pains me to say it.

idk. I've been watching wrestling for a long time, and usually the winners of battle royals are the obvious ones. Granted Matt did not win, you know you didn't expect him to be the last one eliminated. It's almost as shocking as Stevie Richards lasting as long as he did in the ECW vs. WWE battle royal.

Sadly, as awesome as I think he is, I'm fearing the day that he becomes world champ and the entire IWC turns on him.

I think it'll happen. And at mania 24. If Edge keeps the belt for that long, I challenge you to come up with a better story than Hardy taking the belt off him and ending his undeafeted streak ( I don't count this year since it was a cluster f***).

This would be pretty rad, and I could see him as a legit champ for maybe half a year. In my honest opinion, he needs to add in a bit more to his move set.

Speaking of JBL he's being the announcer that's been needed for a while, because he is putting talent over while staying in character. Like whenever Londrick where on screen he talked about how much he liked them and how exciting they were to watch. And look how long they held the belts and how they were built up.
And now we have Matt. It's become insane lately how over he's become, and it can only become bigger.
Plus Edge vs. Matt was always incredibly entertaining.
