The majority of people here seem to loathe the whole "Eddiesploitation" storyline, considering it stupid, crass, and altogether tasteless.
However...
I dare say that the one good thing about Eddie's death (not that it was a good thing itself, of course) is that it put an end to two other stupid, crass, and altogether tasteless angles which people seem to have forgotten about.
I refer, of course, to the "Rey shoots blanks" thing and Chavo's "Kerwin White" persona.
Personally...I'll take Eddiesploitation over those two any day of the week.
You may all tar and feather me now.

I know I'm in the minority, but I thought Kerwin White was pretty funny and didn't really do that much harm. And the "Rey shoots blanks" angle had ended a few months before Eddies death.

I disagree with Eddiesploitation period. To clarify, I never considered it a bad thing. His wife of all people OKed the whole thing and went along with it it's not like she was held (I'm pretty sure) at gunpoint and told she had to co-operate. When it comes down to it NONE of us can say what was right for his death and what wasnt... frankly his wife gets first and final say about it..

Kerwin White made me laugh as long as he stayed away from the racism thing. I loved the idea that he was basically becoming a generic white man to get past wrestling prejudice.
And they never said Rey was really Dom's father. I still consider it to be Eddie.

The Rey storyline was over already, but Eddie's death did rid us of Kerwin White.

I loved Kerwin White.
I also loved the Eddie/Rey/Dominic angle.
Eddiespolitation was bad for one reason. It turned Eddie's death into a positive. Yeah, Eddie died. But look on the bright side. Randy Orton got over as an evil and horrible heel, and Rey got over as a babyface that people could get behind and have sympathy for.
That's why it was bad.
I also love how this thread turned into an inpromtu "Kerwin White Appreciation" thread. It's almost as good as that time some guy started a thread to hate Tatanka, and everyone responded who talked about how awesome Tatanka was.

Let's settle a custody battle with a ladder match and have a DCF worker alongside the child so he can watch his "fathers" beat the crap out of eachother.
When I was a boy my dad climbed a ladder to retrieve custody papers and prove he loved me.
Is this wrestlecrap yet???

I Don't think RD would want to put the Rey/Eddie custody fued up for consideration. But the angle was indeed pretty bad.

If all of you guys liked Kerwin, good for you. All I know is that it was one of those angles which I would have been profoundly embarrassed to have a non-wrestling fan walk into the room in the middle of.

To each his own I suppose, I think there have been worse gimmicks/angles to watch in front of casual fans (i.e Vince's KMA club).

As far as "Eddiesploitation" goes... it's what Eddie would have wanted. He was a consummate entertainer, and you know he would have approved of everything they did. With the exception of Orton's "he's in hell" promo, nothing really disrespectful was said about him. But even that was done to get heel heat, and who was a better dirty rotten heel than Eddie?
So he died... it's a part of life. It's on your schedule too. It's the only true constant among every person on earth, so why is it considered such a sacred thing you can't joke about?

Kerwin was OK, until they started with the "If it ain't White, it ain't Right!" crap. It's just like Hassan, where they took what could have been an interesting non-traditional gimmick, and turned it into the same old crappy cheap-heat grab....

^^ Thank you! Thank you for being the only other person around here on this board (that I've seen, anyway) who agreed that Hassan was little more than cheap heat.

^^ Thank you! Thank you for being the only other person around here on this board (that I've seen, anyway) who agreed that Hassan was little more than cheap heat. Hassan's first few weeks were actually interesting, but then they did that stupid "Daivari's getting carried off like a Martyr" thing.... Had they stuck to the original concept and not turned him into a terrorist, he'd have been great.
