Has anyone yet posted the major rise in RAWs ratings the past couple of weeks, cause IMDb has one, and I don't want to double post, feel stupid, and get locked.
I'd rather just get this thread locked, and feel better for asking first.
EDIT: Okay, here we go...
Scripted "Murder" Lifts Ratings for Wrestling Special
The supposed "murder" of WWE Chairman Vince McMahon in a car bombing lifted ratings for USA Net's 3-hour WWE Raw to the top of the Nielsen basic-cable ratings list for the week of June 11-17. The 10:00 p.m. hour was No. 1 on the list with 6.32 million viewers; the 9:00 p.m. hour, No. 2 with 5.68 million; and the 8:00 p.m. hour, No. 6 with 4.3 million. Ratings for cable networks are delayed longer than those for broadcast networks, but last Monday's three-hour follow-up seems certain to pull equally strong numbers. (It included a "memorial" address from Stephanie McMahon, Vince's daughter from the center of the ring, in which she remarked, "My dad wanted to leave this world the same way he lived in it, in the biggest way possible.") Although the WWE is claiming on its website that a federal investigation has been launched into the car bombing, the FBI has denied that any such an investigation has been launched. The blog Let's Wrestle commented that it's all "simply a storyline that is sure to stretch out for quite awhile."

I hope this leads to them doing more and more stories like this to try to permanently spike the ratings. Thing is they actually do longterm damage to their product with stuff like this which they DO NOT understand. People tune in cause they're initially interested, find out it's a bunch of goofy bait and switch crap, and then never want to turn it on again, and the ratings go down. It's funny to watch WWE(from a qualitative perspective) flush itself down the toilet.

Yeah they don't get that a huge spike for something reeeeeeeeeeeally stupid can be rather damaging in the longrun. Look at NWO, first year or so, GREAT idea, awesome in fact. Then they just KEPT trying to outdo it, and finally fans were just apathetic to the whole thing.

Like remember XFL? First week of their season the ratings were great everyone wanted to see what McMahon would do. Then people saw what they were watching and they lost half the audience every week. Then 'in a desperate attempt to increase ratings', they said they'd take you into the cheerleader's locker room which ended up being some old guy rambling. No one tuned in to see it anyway but even still it was a load of crap. McMahon is not very good at thinking long term. It doesn't matter if everyone in the entire world watches your show one week, if they all go away the next then you've failed.
There's two steps to making fans and one is drawing them in the second is delivering. WWE/Vince is great at drawing people in but lately their delivery has been suspect at best. Until they realize this expect the same sorts of things.
Only way this angle succeeds long term is if they blame George W Bush for the murder of McMahon and have Bush vs McMahon at WM24. But that ain't happening.

WWE pulled in a 6.32??!!?? Wow. That 6.32 is for the number of viewers (in millions), not the rating number.

What a minute, you want them to pull more stunts like this and then you illustrate why they shouldn't be doing things like this?

I mean because I think trainwrecks like that are funny to watch. I would rather the show be good but with current writing staffs on raw I want them to embarrass themselves. Not only would it make me laugh it might get some of the creative fired and then maybe we'd get good stuff on Raw consistently again.

I kinda agree with that, but (sort of)knowing how WWE works nowadays, they'd probably fire the wrestlers before the writers.

But advantage here is that there really ain't any wrestling to do with angle yet. So there aren't any wrestlers aside from McMahon to fire. ANd they ain't doing that.

These ratings are for the three hour show... BEFORE Vince's limo exploded. They're a result of the draft, not Vince.

THey're a result of it being billed as a 'special' show so people make an effort tune in cause they wanna see something special. The draft was a part of that yeah. But they can't have draft every week so gotta have the limo to keep em in. Problem is they can't write worth a damn to keep someone interested right now so they're gonna lose viewers. And then they're gonna get more and more desperate.
My idea is have a guy fall down in the ring and start bleeding and say he was sniped. Every month or so a new wresltler would get sniped. That would draw em in.

So what is the rating of the show? 6.32 million. It's very, very disturbing how desperate E is.
