I'm as surprised as you guys, but I actually see this in a positive light. To put some perspective on it: it is clear that CM Punk is being built as the inevitable ECW champ. However, I honestly feel he is not yet ready. He's only been signed with WWECW for a year, and that is too soon to be pushing him to the title. I don't want to see them make the mistake with him that they have made with Lashley and Khali and others. I think they were planning a long term Punk/Benoit feud for the title. And lets face it, such a program would be awesome. But by adding Nitro to the list, it opens up a lot more possibilities that could be fun. It seems to me that Benoit was moved to ECW almost totally for the purpose of going against Punk to help establish him in the eyes of fans as a credible and deserving champ. But by making it a three way program, it will just further add to Punk "overcoming the odds," to coin a phrase, and make him seem all the more credible and important as champ. Unexpected, yes, but bad, not at all.

I think it will be fine...alot of people just were shocked and pissed by the surprise of Nitro going over last night.
We'll see how it plays out Tuesday

Nitro is a good worker, now the he has one of the main titles I bet he steps his game up. We may get some great matches out of this now that Nitro is champ.

I see what your saying but will disagree that it is to soon to give Punk the strap.
It wasn't to soon for Lesnar or Lashley and many others who went to the top early, thing is Punk is Just as good probabky better and he is not roid ripped

I think given the situation that giving Punk the title would have been the best idea.

I still don't see why they didn't put Burke and Brown in the match. Nitro didn't earn it. But i guess it really doesn't matter does it.

I think the reason was quite simple: Nitro was there to be with Melina, Burke and Brown weren't.

Nitro's okay, I guess. But I think the plan, and the best idea, was to put Punk in a title program with a seasoned veteran over a few months so he learns along the way to getting the belt. Obviously the specific plan they had for that has been scuttled.
Nitro is a good young talent, but he obviously can't fill that role.
They'll have to bring someone like Dave Taylor or Tommy Dreamer into the title picture.

The problem with Nitro winning it is the losing streak he's been on lately. If they'd built him strong going into it I'd have been fine.

Well, it does make sense in my book: Burke and Brown lost their qualifying matches last week, and Nitro looked really awesome in his squash over Guido. So, it would only make sense for Nitro to be champion, and to be honest, this will probably start a much-needed kick to the rear for Mr. Don't Call Me Monday Nitro.

I mean I can't remember the last time he was on TV before his ECW debut. That said, I like Nitro and think he will do a fine job as champ but, the lack of any build up hurts.

Nitro is pointless as ECW champion.

If Nitro's last match is any indication I don't mind him being champ. He's in a tough situation right now and I hope he gets a lot of support.

I've been a Nitro fan and defender for a long time. Initially, I was not happy with the rush to give him the title with no build after Punk, Burke and Cor Von had been built up as ECW guys and title contenders. Now, I just can't think the same way because things simply have changed. I can't think about Nitro and the ECW Championship without thinking about the person originally slated to wrestle in the match and the current tragedy. Part of me wishes they would get rid of the title, but my better judgement says that's not the best option as Punk, Burke, Cor Von, Dreamer, et. al deserve something to fight for.

Due to not having Benoit around to build some credibility for the ECW Title, I shook my head watching CM Punk and Nitro go at it.
With the unfortunate loss of Benoit as a main eventer, there will be a huge push to make Nitro more credible, but I'm not buying it. Put the title on Sandman!!!

I fully support Nitro as champ, because not only does he have an impressive move set, but I sense a really really good feud with Punk. Like I said before I fear that he'll get the shitty end of the stick, yet I can see others grow on him much like they may have grown on Edge.
