Holy crap
I can't believe this. Seeing the media's take on Benoit has taught me one thing
Screw the fact that he killed his wife and child.....
The MAIN THING is the smurfING ROIDS
I am in utter shock. That's all it's about? Steroids?
WWE = Roids?
TNA = Roids?
Indys = ROids?
God, this is just ridiculous to me. This isn't really a Benoit thread. More a thread on how the media percieves pro wrestling
ROIDS that's all pro wrestling is.

Well, to be fair, Benoit did look juiced up, but yeah they did take that ball and run with it.

after vince's scandal in the early 90s, and admitted usage of steroids by older wrestlers, then unfortunately yes.

My problem with this is that there not even talking that much of him killing his wife and child.
How many people who take Roids kill there wife and child?
It just doesn't connect with me.
Not saying THEY HELPED but the roids weren't the only thing

The found legal steroids at his home. Steroids in sports has been a hot topic on and off for the last 25 years. The thing that gets me is how the media has ignored the number of early deaths in wrestling and all of the sudden they seem super shocked at the numbers. It's shocking because they don't notice when guys like Davey Boy, Crash, Bam Bam, Awesome, Candito, Public Enemy, Hercules, Spicolli, Duncum Jr, Renegade, Sherri, or the Wall pass on.

Chris Rock said it best... "Why can't a motherf***er just be CRAZY?!" unfortunately cause some people always want some sort of logical explaination for everything that goes on in the world....

Probably because they weren't a top star with WWE at the time I'm just saying that the numbers are shocking to them when they hear them today because they don't know about the Big Dick Dudleys and Road Warrior Hawks out there. Some in the media made a big deal about it in 2002, but it's been ignored for a long time, somewhat talked about after Eddie, but now it's really being talked about.

Chris Candido died from complications from a surgery. Steroids had nothing to do with it.

God,
Benoit even used his Crippler crossface to kill his child.
Your not gonna report that? Maybe pro wrestling makes you deranged and makes you think your the actual character?
How about stating some facts instead of pointing STRAIGHT at steroids

The media is f***ing awful. All of it. The fact that a f***wit like Shepherd Smith can be considered a credible source of anything other than complete idiocy after he referred to Vengeance as "one of those PPV things those WWE guys do" blows my mind. Talk about hard-hitting investigative journalism. Then again, I AM talking about Fox News, and they should be given the benefit of the doubt that they don't know shit about f***.

In a word, yes. It's all about the juice. All wrestlers are on it, all baseball players are on it, and its merely a matter of time before all wrestlers and baseball players go home and kill their families. It's probably time for the IWC as a whole to accept what I've known for years now: the press sucks. The media will do anything for a 15 minute story, even if it means throwing entire families, companies, sports, and sects of society under the proverbial bus. But God forbid they ask Angelina Jolie any questions about her babies...

Chris Candido died from complications from a surgery. Steroids had nothing to do with it. I mentioned him because the media has been listing the total number of deaths of wrestlers who died young in the last ten years that they didn't notice. Techinally, they probably included Russ Haas, Candito, and Owen in their statistics of the total number of young men who have died in the last ten years, though their deaths are different.

Your point wasn't that clear to me before.

Why are you surprised by this? Steroids is all over the business. It is a leading cause of death among wrestlers. It is finding its way around the Wellness Policy through corrupt doctors. The pressures that lead to steroid abuse are still there.
Mood swings are a real problem for steroid users - even non-abusers. And these are not necessarily sudden snap episodes.
Do roids explain all of what happened? No. Other guys might have just hassled a state trooper, like Scott Steiner. But it's a reasonable guess that they could have been a contributing factor.
Steroid use for cosmetic purposes is still a huge problem in the industry. Don't be part of the denial.
