As for overall reigns all time by the "major companies", Cena is currently 17th overall, still 3,900+ days behind Verne Gagne's all time record. (Note: The "major companies" are the AWA, WCW, NWA, TNA, WWE, and ECW) Hell, even that's still impressive out of everyone ever in every Promotion ever he's still 17th. He's sure to climb ever higher I'm sure.

Holding the belt doesn't mean 1/100th what it meant when guys like Hogan, Bruno, Backlund and Pedro held it. To even think Cena is up there with those guys is a flipping joke. Amen.

Also of note:
All ECW HC holders after the brand relaunched in 2006 do not count towards that list. So, Bobby Lashley technically has zero days as champion, as well as Johnny Nitro.

1. Bruno Sammartino # Of Reigns 2, Combined Days as Champ 4,040 2. Hulk Hogan # Of Reigns 6, Combined Days as Champ 2,185 3. Bob Backlund# Of Reigns 2, Combined Days as Champ 2,138 4. Pedro Morales # Of Reigns 1, Combined Days as Champ 1,027 5. John Cena # Of Reigns 3, Combined Days as Champ 700 Kind of amazing if you think about it and the number of days as Champ will only grow over the years unless he gives up Wrestling or something. I just wish the E would book him as an unstoppable kind of guy as opposed to the "overcoming the oddz" kind of guy, seems to make a lot more sense especially considering he and the belt seem to be welded together. I'm throughly disugusted by this

It's amazing that Bruno Sammartino only held it twice but was a champion for over 4000 days. Thats like more than 11 years! Could you imagine if Cena held it that long?

The thing I find funny is that HHH's 10 reigns are only 176 days longer than Cena's 3 reigns.
But then again, when HHH was WWF Champion didn't the belt change hands like every month?

I'd like if they did that, too. I don't mind Cena as champ that much, since he has earned it, but at least aknowledge he wins so damn often. I liked when he wrestled on ECW against Nitro, because Cena knew to play the role of the odds-on favoritem abd they portrayed it as such, so Nitro didn't look bad when he lost, but actually go up for putting up such a fight. Yep, that's because the match structure was different this time than the last time they wrestled each other. They had this match structured like two main-eventers, so this shows that WWE is going to use Johnny Nitro as a main-eventer.

By the way, remember when the IWC wanted HHH to loose his spot to somebody and anybody? And HHH kept saying that it wasn't the issue, but that whenever someone is rising up, the IWC is behind them, but when they're on top, the IWC turns on them?
Sorry, but in the argument of HHH vs IWC, HHH won.
