Sounds more like your friend being a jerk. I would have done the same thing. Dave giving the finger = funny. I agree. Sounds like you two earned it. You're probably lucky he didn't have you two tossed out for it. I ain't a big fan of Batista anymore, but I ain't going to do that to any wrestler right ot his face, especially when he's a) a face, and b)good enough to come to you to shake your friend's hand.

It just bother me that a wrestler today soley gets by just because he looks the part. Call me old school, but wrestlers worked hard back in the day to get their spots and attained ability in the ring and connected with the crowd, and didnt have to take the cheap easy way out. Roger, Thesz, Sammartino. jake roberts etc. These guys weren't monsters and all show but got over based on their individual talents and not just their build. The business as become so aesthetic its ridiculous which is a major problem with the industry today. Its all show and very little go!! Some of the wrestlers today have no right, no right AT ALL!!! to be where they are at and if they went through some hardships maybe they would appreciate where they are at, other than just being given everything on a silver platter. That part of it though when society changes to demanding visual highs, and not emotional highs. How many wrestlers today hook you emotionally? Not very many

You'd answer a snub by telling someone 'hey, go to hell for playing a joke on me' I don't want to piss off everyone on the board again, but if it was an IWC darling who flipped the fan off instead of Batista, how would the reaction be to that?

I'm with Kash on this one. Everyone just likes to bash Batista, but I, and most people would have done the same thing. If Jericho had done the EXACT same thing everyone would be going "OMG JERICHO IS TEH AWESOME!!11"

Personally I think they were both being Jerks If the guy is gonna take the time to go over and shake your hand you shouldn't be a jerk to him... don't want to slap/shake his hand... don't motion for it. Though Batista probably could have laughed it off, and just ignored the jerk in the crowd... rather then be a jerk back...

im not a big fan of Batista but i respect him. He was told that he would never make it to the wrestling buisness, but now hes a 2 time World Champion. Yeah and ur friend was kinda being a jerk. If your friend did this to someone like CM Punk and if CM Punk fliked him off everyone on this board would forgive CM Punk and say that the fan should be stoned.

Batista isn't what I would call "cool". He seems impulsive and emotional. That being said, if Batista added this as a regular part of his entrance, I'd mark.

Sounds to me like this wasn't that bad, just Batista trying to make a clever comeback, with taping on his shoulder and all.
Did he looked pissed as he was giving your friend the finger, or was it all in jest?

Just thought I'd share this story from the New Orleans Smackdown/ECW show. My friends and I were sitting by the aisle and Big Dave came by us after the dark match, slapping hands and whatnot. He went to shake my friend's hand and my boy did the old "slicking the hair back" motion. He turned around laughing and Batista tapped him on the shoulder and gave him the finger. I thought that was funny for 2 reasons a) He spends all that time with Flair and he's falling for an old ass trick like that and b) what a message to send the kids . i woulda laughed at ur friend cuz he got dissed in front of like 8,000 peeps.

He was told that he would never make it to the wrestling buisness, but now hes a 2 time World Champion. . if thats true, my god he deserves to have a chip on his shoulder. i myself have nothing bad to say about dave,he's answered a few of my emails when he was a heel when he dint have to,let alone thank me for coming to a house show to see him win a squash. then i met him at the arnold classic this year and he was REALLY cool. definitely one of the better meetings i've had with wrestlers and i've met a lot

Cena and Batista were both in OVW as Leviathan and Prototype, so they did pay some dues. Cena was also in UPW I believe, so that is about as much as anyone can pay dues these days now that the regional promotions are RIP.
I saw Batista after a house show in Baton Rouge in the spring and he was very nice to the crowd after the main event. Took time to shake hands and talk to the fans left at ringside. He posed a bit for pictures. He seemed like an OK guy.
And honestly, I think its funny as hell that he flipped your friend off.

Guys, wrestlers are HUMAN. They're going to have good days and bad days. None of you can honestly say you've never acted like a jerk when you were in a bad mood or tired and that doesn't automatically make you a horrible person. Heck, you're trying to make him seem like an ass after he tried to shake your friends hand. If he was a real ass he just wouldn't have bothered.
As for him not paying his dues and being handed the title with in the year, didn't he try the solo thing for half a year, then was 'the seen but not heard' member of evolution for a year and a half before even getting to see any solo belt (though he and flair were tag champs for a while). Quit your whining.
