In every great Wrestling forum, there is one uber-thread dedicated to old Wrestling news and notes. DVD has the 16 page thread of old WCW Observer quotes and some other place I found has them from the late 80s. But Wrestlecrap needs one too I say! Why I'm so interested in the history of what never was in wrestling is a mystery to me as well, but then again, I love looking at Beta footage from video games and deleted scenes from movies. So instead of the other threads that parody the IWC, let's use this thread to post what the IWC thought was going to happen, and the rumors that were hot back in the day. Should be a lot of fun, and very cool for historical reasons. I didn't become a news reader until like 2001, so I'd like to read about speculations before my time as a "smark". I'll start it off with the first rumor I remember, probably from late 2000 if memory serves correctly.
-Kane is set to come back in a green and black attire and rejoin forces with Road Dogg and X-Pac in DX.

I always thought Kane was going to come back in green as DX Kane. Would've looked like a giant a Delirious.

Expect the Higher Power to be revealed as Jake the Snake or Sting.
It totally won't be a dissapointment.

If memory serves me correct I remember a rumor from mid-2004 where Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio were bringing in their friend Konnan to become a Spanish announcer.

- Plans are to lump together Chris Benoit, Steve McMichael, Fit Finley, and Dean Malenko as the new Four Horsemen. The problem, of course, is that the group needs to be put over by the main eventers in order to have any real status; otherwise, they'll just be another Flock. Malenko is apparently complaining about the idea. Talk continues that, one way or another, Benoit will get a huge push; I can't wait to see if any of the "stars" will actually put him over.

Randy Orton never asked for his favor from Booker back when he took his place and he faced off against "he who shall not be named" for the US title

For the entire time Taker was out in late 99-early 2000, WrestleZone.com kept saying he would return at every Raw/Smackdown!/PPV from about Survivor Series 99 to Backlash 2000.
I remember reading somewhere that Bret Hart ,HBK, or Brother Love was going to the Higher Power.

Edge is going to be punished for sleeping with Lita. . . .
Randy Orton is going to be punished for being a dick. . .
The Undertaker is contemplating retirement (in early late 90's). . . .
The Undertaker's mom is going to come back from the dead and act as a guardian angel in his feud between Kane (to be played by some blonde diva). . .

Here were three that I always remembered showing up on those "newz boardz" during the Monday Night Wars heyday: - Hulk Hogan's returning to the WWF
- Kevin Nash and Scott Hall are returning to the WWF (this one was especially hot during the DX invasion angle)
- Shawn Michaels is going to WCW as the new nWo member

I remember in late 2002 there was a story that No Mercy 2002 was going to be Triple H vs Bubba Ray Dudley for the World Title.
Bret Hart was gonna be at every televised event in Canada between 2001 and 2005.
And for an extremely recent one, the Brand Extension was going to end last Monday on Raw.
