Looking back I have decided that WWE started to slip as soon as they went to TNN(SPik). Prior to this they never had commercials in the main event and rarely in any match itself. Then they changed channels and started doing what WCW did that made me mad. I Also think that this is when creative forgot the meaning of the word. That is just my opinion

commercials in matches do suck. it's like a blatant disclaimer *Yes, we are fake. There is no way the match will end before we come back*

There is no way the match will end before we come back* I think it was TLC4 when Bubba Ray Dudley was about to climb the ladder to grab the tag belts, and JR screamed "DON'T DO IT BUBBA, WE STILL HAVE ONE MORE COMMERCIAL BREAK LEFT!" Um...okay.

Not to mention that every return from commercial has one person in a headlock.
What annoys me the most is when they do this for taped shows like Smackdown and Impact. Since it isn't live, why cut into a match only two minutes in? Unless it's a very long match, it doesn't make sense.

They should end a match during the commercial break once every few months. Like, during a Cody Rhodes match, have him win with a roll-up during the commercial...and coming back from commercial the embarrassed heel's beating him down with security pulling the heel off, and post-match choas.
If it's a major upset, missing the pin live might make it feel less special to the viewer...but breaking from the expected formula and status quo should make it feel even more surprising, special, and a bigger deal than normal. J.R., with all of his years in the business, could then put the moment over as something even he's rarely ever seen, thus making it even more special.

Untill you see the threads on here decrying how stupid it was to end a match during a commercial break.

I recall Bill Watts' UWF... the show would resume after ads, with announcer Jim Ross acting shocked. They'd roll the footage and it was always something great, and you were left with the distinct impression of "Damn, we gotta go to these live events!"

Wrestling companies have had commercials during matches for a long time. It wasn't until the MNW that they stopped doing that so that people wouldn't turn to the other show. Now with no competition, they are back to taking commercials in the matches, I really don't see the big deal in it.
Also, the GWF used to end matches during the commercials to drive up attendance to the tapings.

Shawn Michaels and Hacksaw Jim Duggan had a match that ended during commercial in like 93 on Raw.

It's the same thing every show. One or both guys fall to the outside, then JR/Cole/Styles start talking all fast, which you can see coming a mile away.
"Can Matt Hardy get back in the game!? We'll find out...nexxxxxxxt."
It's like there's commercial break buttons on the mats on the outside.
