Ok, before everyone jumps down my throat, let me just say that I don't think Santino will ever equal what the Rock has done.
However, the beginnings to both of their careers are VERY similar. They both came in as extreme babyfaces that won the Intercontinental title very early. The fans turned on both of them after a little bit of time and started booing them openly. They then went through a change and became heel, and showed that they were both great on the mic in their gimmicks.
While Santino isn't being treated like the Rock was at this point, it isn't too hard to think that Santino could be in the IC title hunt after his current feud.
Finally, they have both feuded with Ron Simmons at a point in their career when they were really getting over.
So I don't see Santino as the next Rock, but it is certainly interesting to see that they have taken the same route on their careers.

Well that's certainly plausible. Maybe he'll develop as a wrestler, and the heel Santino should stick with him for the duration of his career, be it face or heel!
But that's Just Jay.

If you SMEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLL what the 'Ino......is.....cookin'. But nah, I do agree. He does remind me of the Rock. He's gold on the mic and can improvise well.

He does remind me a little of The Rock early-on, and The Rock eventually got really entertaining in the ring as well so here's hoping.

Just sadle him with a Super Mario Brothers gimmick.. for my amusement only. And then have Ron Simmons sit on the side with a original NES controller (Nintendo brand.. not a knock off!) and controll Santino. When Ron is mad at Santino.. Ron just stops playing and Santino gets the snot knocked out.
Best idea I've ever had.

Well, don't forget, that Santino debuted just after Mania....so we're looking at approx. 6 months.... I forget the actual timelines, but for the rock, it felt like he was face for at least 6 months to a year, then turned Heel and joined the Nation and for that I know it was close to a year that he had a slow build where fans were gradually getting into him (I recall me and a friend knew he was gold at Mania when he did that interview with Genifer Flowers, but it was becoming popular to cheer him around SUmmerslam.
Anywho...good point on Santino.
