You know, for all the comments on how people hate "comedy gimmicks", I'd wonder how feds like CHIKARA & HUSTLE get so popular, or guys like Delirious, Ultra Mantis Black, Human Tornado, and others on the indy scene aren't considered comedy wrestlers, and can be seen as believable title contenders. The thing is, Delirious, Ultra Mantis Black, and Human Tornado created their gimmicks themselves. They chose and embraced a comedy gimmick, and their gimmicks are actually over (even if it is just with a niche audience). You can't tell me that Sonjay Dutt actually approached TNA management and said, "Hey, you know what? I really wanna wear a diaper to the ring and preach nonviolence!"

Moreover, comedy gimmicks are generally only good if they're actually funny. Delirious, UMB, and the like get this, and are hilarious because of it. The people that came up with Sanjay/Ghandi, or Eugene, for that matter, don't seem to understand that.

'We need more room to push VKM!' 'And the Steiners!' 'And the Bashams!' 'And the Dudleys!' 'And the Briscoes*!' (Note: Jerry and Jack, not Mark and Jay)

(Note: Jerry and Jack, not Mark and Jay) And to think that for a moment I thought TNA was going to "Man Up."

I understand that, but there's also the matter of gimmicks that people claim are considered comedy, but they get over (Black Machismo, Boogeyman, Jimmy Wang Yang, etc), so it isn't just the fact that it's a "comedy gimmick" as a whole. Thing is, people consider Lethal & Boogey & Wang comedy characters, but not guys like Mantis, Tornado, & Delirious, even though they basically fall in the same criteria.

I've always considered Mantis, Tornado, and Delirious comedy characters. The only real difference IMO between them and acts like Machismo is that I don't think they suck.
