TNA CHANGES SLAMMIVERSARY MATCH (AND NO, IT ISN'T TEAM 3D VS. STEINERS) by Buck Woodward @ 9:17:00 PM on 6/13/2007 TNA has announced that the scheduled Slammiversary match with former Tennessee Titan Frank Wycheck vs. James Storm has been changed to a tag team match, with Wycheck teaming with Jerry Lynn against Storm and Ron Killings (who I guess is a heel now). This will be Killings return to action following a knee injury. It has also been announced that another Tennessee Titan, Kyle Vanden Bosch, will be in Wycheck & Lynn's corner for the match. The original plan for Wycheck was for a tag match with Lynn and Storm, with NFL bad boy Ray Lewis taking part, but when Lewis pulled out, it was changed to a singles match. Now, it is back to a tag bout, but with three experienced wrestlers, which in all honesty should make for a better match. Here is the current lineup for the Slammiversary PPV this Sunday: - King Of The Mountain Match for the TNA World Title: Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles vs. the winner of Christian Cage vs. ? on Impact tomorrow. - TNA Tag Team Champions Team 3D vs. The Steiner Brothers (TNA is still promoting this match right now, although there is no way Scott Steiner will be wrestling, so expect some sort of announcement during/following Impact). - TNA X Champion Chris Sabin vs. Jay Lethal. - Bob Backlund vs. Alex Shelley. - Eric Young vs. Robert Roode. - Voodoo Kin Mafia vs. Damaja & Basham. - Frank Wycheck & Jerry Lynn vs. James Storm & Ron Killings. Meanwhile, in kayfabe: FRANK WYCHECK TO TEAM WITH JERRY LYNN THIS SUNDAY AGAINST JAMES STORM AND RON “THE TRUTH” KILLINGSPlus, Titans Pro Bowler Kyle Vanden Bosch to take part in the bout By Bill Banks As announced Wednesday afternoon on TNA Mobile, the Frank Wycheck vs. James Storm bout this Sunday at “Slammiversary” has been changed to a tag team match with Wycheck joining forces with Jerry Lynn to battle Storm and the returning Ron “The Truth” Killings. TNAwrestling.com learned that earlier this week, Jerry Lynn asked TNA management to make it a tag team match. Lynn – who was present for the Slammiversary press conference – found it completely disrespectful what Storm did to Wycheck and offered to back up Wycheck in the ring this Sunday night. Lynn is a Nashville native has been training with Wycheck in recent days to prepare for the upcoming bout. TNAwrestling.com has also learned that Tennessee Titans Pro Bowl defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch will be in Wycheck’s corner for the bout this Sunday. Wycheck will be on Nashville's 104.5 "The Zone" on Thursday morning to discuss the latest news on Sunday's match. On Wednesday afternoon, James Storm officially accepted the tag team bout, and revealed that his partner would be Ron “The Truth” Killings, who is returning to in-ring action following knee surgery. When contacted by phone, Killings confirmed that he would indeed be Storm’s partner this Sunday at the Pay-Per-View. Check back to TNAwrestling.com on Thursday night after “iMPACT!” for the full card for Sunday’s Pay-Per-View epic event as TNA celebrates five years of Total Nonstop Action!

So is this part of another Killings' push until he drops off the face of the earth again? That seems to be the thing to do with him.

I hope Killings continues his streak of being in the mid-card one PPV and then being in the Main event the next and then right back to the mid-card.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for Killings this time.
Bringing him back as a heel's partner gives him a level of intrigue, since he left as a face. Hopefully they come up with something good here.

Due to the fact that TNA is still promoting Steiners Vs. Team 3D on the website, I refuse to order this PPV. I semi-understand that it gets promoted on TV, since it was filmed, but to promote it on the website is messed up and an insult to the fans.

Team 3D vs Rick and Scott Steiner. Scott Steiner will be wearing an invisibility cloak.

I hope Killings revives his old character from the Nashville days, Hardcore Truth is way better than 'Wassup' Truth.

Gah, I'm still on the fence on this PPV. On one hand, I really hope it's good, for TNA & wrestling in general's sake, but TNA has burned me so often over the past couple of years. I guess I could download it a few days later, but that's never as fun as buying the PPV live. Anyone know what they're gonna do about Scott Steiner likely not being able to wrestle? He's been one of TNA's most entertaining wrestlers IMO as of late, so him being off the card has me thinking the tag title match will be atrocious now.

So I'm looking at TNA's website and the KOTM match consists of Joe vs. Angle vs. Styles vs. Cage vs. . Any guesses on who the mystery 5th man is? I mean it's probably going to be Jarrett but anyone think TNA may surprise us?

WWE/WWF has been guilty of the same thing many times before. Last one I remember was the Bob Holly-shaped shadow for December 2 Dismember. Also, it those rumors about Jarrett coping with his wife's death by focusing strictly on wrestling would make sense if ol' Double J does in fact show up for the main event.

center] [/center] That poster is absolutely badass. Yes, I know it's from Walk the Line, but it fits so well. Kudos to TNA. I'd actually hang that in my room.

Black Machismo vs Sabin should be good, as long as they get some time to work. I think it is a solid card except for stupid Wychek deal, at least it is a tag so Lynn can carry things. With Killings and Lynn heating it up you should have a fair amount of good stuff to watch. Hopefully Wychek doesn't get in much. But former husker Kyle Vanden Bosch will be there, I dig that anyway. It is crap that they haven't quit advertising Steiners vs 3D, part of it is that they like to preserve the illusion of Thursday-night shows being live(since Scott performed on the show) but part is probably just greed. They better find a nice sub for Scott, wish it had been Killings, now I don't know who they get. Abyss? Tomko? Animal? Hoyt? IT'S SHARKBOY Shelley/Backlund is filler but could be fun to watch if booked well.

With only 24 hours to go until Slammiversary, it’s PPV prediction time!
KING OF THE MOUNTAIN MATCH FOR THE TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE KURT ANGLE vs. SAMOA JOE vs. AJ STYLES vs. CHRISTIAN CAGE vs. AN OPPONENT TO BE DETERMINED BY JIM CORNETTE So I’m guessing that entrant #5 will be Jarrett. It’s Jarrett’s home town and he’s a face. As much as it looks like another Jarrett win, I’ve got to hope that this will finally be Joe’s time. Winner: Samoa Joe
TNA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH TEAM 3D (c) VS. THE STEINER BROTHERS Since they’re still advertising this match, there should be an angle at the PPV explaining Steiner’s absence. This is what I thought until Borash explained what happened in Puerto Rico on TNA Today. So now I have no idea what they’re going to do. Throw Abyss in there I guess. It just doesn’t feel like a TNA PPV without Abyss. Winners: Team 3D
TNA X TITLE MATCH CHRIS SABIN (c) VS. "BLACK MACHISMO" JAY LETHAL I want Sabin and Shelley to go after the tag belts ASAP. That means Lethal should take the win here so Sabin can move on with Murder City Machine Guns. Winner: Black Machismo
STING V THE FALLEN ANGEL Winner: Fallen Angel
RHINO & CHRIS HARRIS w/HECTOR GUERRERO vs. THE LAX Uhh…okay. Winners: LAX
MR. BACKLUND VS. ALEX SHELLEY Mr. Backlund is one of the most entertaining parts of TNA. That said, he shouldn’t be winning against Alex Shelley who’s decades younger. Winner: Alex Shelley
ERIC YOUNG VS. ROBERT ROODE W/ MS. BROOKS Ahhh…the feud that will not end. Winner: Robert Roode
VKM VS. THE DAMAJA & BASHAM w/CHRISTY HEMME I like that the former Basham brothers are in TNA. I just don’t like what they’re doing with them so far. Winners: D&B
FRANK WYCHECK & JERRY LYNN VS. "COWBOY" JAMES STORM & RON "THE TRUTH" KILLINGS Does anyone outside of Tennesee care about Frank Wycheck? Winners: Storm & Truth
On paper this PPV looks like a 6/10. Would have been higher if Scott Steiner was still in that tag match. Hopefully TNA can surprsie me.

OK, maybe it's been explained, but see, I watched TNA this week, and they never mentioned it being turned into a tag match. Also, what the hell do any of the four have in common? Is there a connection at all or is this "random pairing day" and no one freaking told me?
