Based on what's thus far been reported, I get the feeling that there won't be any Benoitsploitation. Or any mention of Chris Benoit on WWE ever again after Smackdown.

I don't think we'll see any title wins today. And I definitely don't want to see CM Punk win the title right now. Do you guys really want to see him get the Rey Mysterio push? I sure as hell don't. I'd rather not, as much as I'd love to see Punk get the title, not under those circumstances. We don't need Benoitsploitation. I think the last thing you will see is Benoitsploitation. WWE is in no way gonna wanna ever mention this on tv ever again...much less produce storylines around it.

I'm not thinking they'd do it to exploit Benoit, but just to change the mood of the fans by putting the belt on a respected face.

It's definitely for the best. You can't go on, and you also can't put him over like they did Eddie and Owen due to the circumstances.
This seems to be the best thing to do.

Look at WWE.com... * Theres only one picture and link regarding Benoit now instead of 4 or 5 when the news broke. * The Raw videos and report of the tribute show were taken down. * If you search for Benoit merchandise it says that all his products on WWEShop have been "discontinued" ya, no more mention of Benoit indeed

Doing these shows without any storylines is the best thing to do right now. Luckily, WWE are currently in position where they can wait until next week, as the next PPV is at the end of July and they have plenty of time to build that up. Kudos to Vince McMahon and the entire WWE, they're doing the best thing for everyone.

Chris Benoit has been removed from the Superstars page on ECW.com

It's still hard to think it's true.
Hopefully these two shows will be bad ass.

I just checked the site now. On the side column, they replaced the Benoit pictures and info with information on WWE Vengence, and links to the Superstar and Diva sites.
It's sad that Benoit is slowly being erased from the WWE, but it seems understandable.

Tonights ecw show should be interesting. Wrestling matches tonight? Could be very good in all this mess going on right now.

very understandable, the company is marketed to kids and teens...my guess is that after the autopsy results today you wont see any trace of him at all on the site.

I hope that in 30 minutes, we can start putting this behind us as a wrestling community.
Benoit being drafted to ECW was going to get me back into wrestling (ECW brand specifically), since WWE has turned me off so many times in the last couple of years.
Now what.

I wonder how things would have unfolded last nite if more details were out sooner.

Very understandable, especially when a situation such as this, where this is no doubt that WWE will (unfairly) get media backlash. It's sad that he is being erased because he was such an amazing wrestler, but it is the absolute best thing to do right now.

Honestly Rob..if the details would have come out sooner last night I would have hated to be in WWE's shoes. Thats a no-win situation.

Like I said on another board, I'd just like to know WHY.
Not to vindicate Chris, but to allow me to wrap my head around all of this.

A wrote a note in my facebook about it, and a friend of mine who is a wrestling fan called it the death of technical wrestling, as Benoit was the true defintion of it. It's sad that his legend is going to be tarnished, but I guess it's understandably tarnished.

sadly amaron we will never know..but whatever the reason, it wont justify the result.
we have to understand the characters you watch and root for on tv are actual people with faults and problems just like us.
its gonna be hard for alot of people to move on
