I thought the Joe vs. Punk matches were dull too. don't particularly enjoy AmDrag either. I think Mori is incredible, but I can see your problem with him.
It sounds like you might get the most enjoyment out of one of the "Best Of" DVD's. If you try one of the ones for a guy you like in TNA or WWE, you might like it.

I must say that Morishima is in close competition with Lashley for having the least convincing appearance of any major champion ever. The guy looks like a fat, effeminate man-child.

Morishima needs to cut his hair again, in my opinion. I think he looks WAY less "girly" here: And then my KOCII would be accurate as well...

Lashley actually does look intimidating. It's just his facial expressions, body language and mic work are completely unintimidating. Morishima is the exact opposite. He looks fat and girly, but he presents himself as a beast in his mannerisms.

Agreed; on the streets, Morishima wouldn't look at all intimidating, but the minute he steps through the curtains, he looks like a crazed grizzly bear.

I hope Yone comes and does a few ROH shows. He's been lost in the NOAH shuffle as of late and he can bring alot to the table. He'd be over like gangbusters in ROH.

Yeah, and since Morishima seems to be a full time player now, it makes sense to bring in his long time buddy.

Go see an ROH show and you'll understand. I'm a lot bigger fan of ROH after the Dayton show last night.

I'm newer to ROH than a lot of you vets here. But just like when I discovered ECW so so so long ago, I did my research about the company and fell in love with it. I can believe Morishima as the big bad japanese monster heal more than a lot others. ROH does a good job of making most of there guys look like potential contenders for belts and they score big for using real music. That has always added to the personality of wrestlers. ROH brings back the tradition of using overseas talents which I loved about the wrestling of yesteryear.
It's the paying attention to detail and overall concept of it's not that difficult to have fun and be a great wrestling promotion. Plus I found out about ROH and Chikara at the same time. Now wrestling has lost it's redundancy. I can remember seeing AJ Styles, Chris Daniels, Colt Cabana, and the others who had matches in WWE when they had try outs. I'm baffled by the guys they pick to use as major players in the "E" instead of the guys they let go.
To add. The awesomeness of the idea of seeing a Briscoes vs Player Uno with a mystery partner. With Player Uno bringing a big plastic mushroom to the ring so he can "Man Up" before the match.

I love the long matches and the psychology they involve and the selling the wrestlers and the story they tell in the ring and pretty much the entire atmosphere that you get when you watch a roh dvd.
Its not for everyone though and I am too lazy to try and change anyone's mind.

I think ROH is great because I like wrestling. I like that the matches have enough time to get ALL of the psychology involved and that really enhances a guy's character. Not to mention an occassionally stellar promo. Plus, variety of wrestling styles on the roster and a bunch of wrestlers are capable of more than just one style. It's just great wrestling.

I'm startng to get into Ring of Honor now since Russo and Mantel have ruined TNA and WWE is.....WWE even though ECW is improving. It does remind me of ECW but with some better production value and the matches are great, the promos are excellent, the skits are amazing (Jimmy Jacobs loves Lacey skits are the best) and they have interesting wrestlers from all around the world.
And they are not all straight up wrestling matches. Their cage matches are really hardcore and the feud with CZW was bloody as hell and the cage of death was epic

Well, I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to buy the PPV. Are all matches slow like that? Now that I understand it, it makes a lot of sense, but also seems boring at the same time. I can appreciate it, but I don't think I'd wanna watch it. I think I'd be more into Lucha Libre to be honest. I love quick paced high flying matches. Any of those in ROH? I want to learn to love it, I really do because it seems so great, but I haven't been directed to that "one match" that will hook me. Are all matches in WWE the same? No. You have brawls, you have technical matches, you have spotfests. RoH is like any wrestling promotion. They offer a variety of product. Don't judge the promotion on ONE MATCH. Especially one you viewed without proper context. Jed Shaffer ~In short, yes, buy the PPV. It's $9.95, for crying out loud.

If you want that ONE MATCH that will hook you, I suggest Blood Generation/Do Fixer from Supercard of Honor 1. A high flying match with great psychology that isn't rushed.

Another match to suggest: Get the second PPV in September. and watch Bryan Danielson vs. Nigel McGuinness. Great pacing, AMAZING match, only about 30 minutes. You will not be disappointed.
