Has anyone heard about Vince and the WWE financially backing ECW? I've heard numerous off-handed mentions of it on WWE television, and I was watching the latest Legends Roundtable on 24/7, and Jim Ross mentioned how when he was head of talent relations he would send checks over to ECW to help finance them.
Does anybody know when this started taking place, and any of the details?

Wouldn't be surprised, they'd have to keep them afloat so they oculd jack their ideas, right?

I'm amazed this thread was made, but Vince put Paul Heyman on the payroll. Every week ECW as a company recieved a 1,000 dollar check for what amounts these days as being a developmental territory. Now keep in mind they weren't a developmental company, but that was the wording used to justify the checks.
In 2000 Paul took a loan of 585,000 dollars from Vince just to make payroll that week.

Well...that was easy. Apparently I never received the memo about this. Much appreciated.

No problem. I am only amazed because it's common knowledge these days and itwas on the Rise & Fall Of ECW

I thought the line about "putting Paul on the payroll" was in reference to hiring him on after ECW closed. And regarding the TPS reports....I was sitting at the monitor for two minutes trying to think of some clever retort, and the only thing that popped into my mind was 'Woozle Wuzzle".

Yeah...you see, we are putting the new cover sheets on all the TPS reports before they go out. So if you can go ahead and do that, that'd be great. Oh and in the meantime I'll make sure to get you another copy of that memo.

Basically Vince paid money to Heyman. Heyman needed the money to keep from bankrupting, and in return Vince would get to have some ECW guys go up to WWE, and some WWFers go down. Right?
